Question about 2006 Saturn ION

1 Answer

None of the gages and the odometer on my 2006 Saturn Ion work, yet all the warning lights in cluster stay on even when the car is off. What could be wrong with it?

Back ground lights do turn on when headlights are on. It doesn't make any of the chime noises or turning signal clicks. Car does work fine other than not knowing how fast I'm going or how much gas I have.

Probably something shorting out. This is something that probably isn't going to be easy to figure out. You need someone that can diagnose it in person

Sounds like a body control module. It is located on top of the glove box. Unfortunately, the miles are stored in this module, so you have to go to a dealer to have it programmed.

You need to use the DIC to personalize your settings. The (2) buttons are located to the left of the instrument panel cluster or "spedometer". Press the info button until you see the "personalization" menu then scroll through until you find horn beep when locking.
If you have your owners manual, it will tell you how to set it.
If you don't, I know your local Saturn dealer will set it for you for free, its not to difficult.

2006 ion after car starts the starter stays in gaged?

the abendix spring is probably weak, or the starter is probably dirty, ur better off buying a rebuilt starter. The same thing happened to my '91 Lexus LS400 so, I took it apart and it was filty inside of it. So I bout a rebuilt starter for a fraction of the price for a new one..

I just picked up a 2005 Saturn Ion 1. Just under 80,000 miles & clean title. The odometer and trip odometer are not working. Is this a part failure, or a PCM reset? Any thoughts?

if the speedometer works the defect is in the instrument cluster. If it does not then a diagnostic will be needed as there are several possibilities.

Odometer on saturn sl2 1998 does not light up why

If all the other gauges and warning lights work, I would say it is a problem in the cluster circuit board.

2006 Saturn ion 2 won't start.

You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing...
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

2006 Saturn ION, Pwr steering light came on then the odometer quit working, then the engine light came on, the transmission would then not down shift while driving. All happened at the same time.

its possible that there is an electrical short circuit to ground on your steering system, check your fuses and relays to see if any are blown or not operating the transmission and engine would shut down as a safety precaution in this case

Fuel gage is not working along with odometer checked for fuses did not find took apart dash found nothing there what should i check next. Tempature gage and oil pressure gage still work fuel gage is right...

when you pulled the top of the dash off did you check the cable connection to the insturment cluster. i had a similar problem where my gauges died individually including the spedo and tach. slapping the dash usually would cause the gauges to start working again, but that quit also and i had to tear the cluster out and check the conneciton. that fixed the problem.

Oil and service lights

you most likely need to take the cat to a saturn dealership to have the code reset for the oil change light. Saturn is notorious for designing their cars so that it is necessary to the dealership for repairs.
