cam lobes not pushing valve spring stem
set the lash to spec. now, then,.
turn the crank by hand put the LOBEs on he heals. of the cam to valve and set latch. repeat on all valves.
all 4 solid lifter engines the same way, using eyeballs. on lobes
there is a way to cheat but most noobs get lost doing that.
this is day1 covered in all ASE classes (engine day)

Rotate the motor clockwise to #1 TDC on the firing stroke. (both valves will not move as the piston is coming up.)

If its not already loose, loosen the nut. Turn the nut while twisting the pushrod between your fingers. When you feel resistance its at zero lash (if you have strong fingers, dont force it). Turn the nut 1 full turn.

Do Exhaust valves cylinders 1,3,4 and 8 and Intake valves 1,2,5, and 7.

Rotate the motor one full turn and do Exhaust 2,5,6 and 7 and Intake 3,4,6 and 8.

There is no valve lash setting. If you remove the cams, make sure the valves and the lifter cups stay in the same position.

its always best to get a book with the specs because almost every engine has lash adjustment. allthough not alway just adjustable. what i meen is that some engines, fords did it , u have to change the pushrod. on overhead cam engines u had to change lifters theres a lot of ways to do it but u should probly get the specs.

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS All gasoline and diesel engines in this guide use hydraulic valve lifters, which require no periodic maintenance or adjustment. However, in the event of cylinder head removal or any operation that requires disturbing or removing the rocker arms, the rocker arms must be adjusted in order to position the pushrods to allow the hydraulic lifters to maintain zero lash. Refer to the valve lash adjustment procedure under Rocker Arms, earlier in this Section.

tiburon uses hydrolic lash adjusters there are no valve lash adjusting If you hearing a pecking sound on the top of the mtr try some oil additive or replace the hydrolic lash adjusters

Valve stem-to-valve rocker arm clearance should be within specification with the valve tappet completely collapsed.
The collapsed valve tappet gap, when the cylinder head is on base circle, should be as follows:

• Minimum: 0mm (0.000 inch)
• Nominal: 2.2mm (0.087 inch)
• Maximum: 4.5mm (0.177 inch)

• INTAKE VALVES: 0.003-0.005 in. (0.08-0.12mm)
