The ABS will turn automatically when the problem in the ABS system is repaired. Until the problem is repaired the light can't be turned off or reset. You must have the ABS system scanned to see what the problem is, there will be an electronic system control fault code in memory

WILL THE ENGINE START? IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BATTERY IS LOW OR THE BATTERY CABLES & TERMINALS NEED TO BE CLEANED. TAKE THE NEG. CABLE OFF FIRST THEN THE POSITIVE, CLEAN EVERYTHING TERMINALS & CABLES, PUT CABLES BACK ON BATTERY POS. FIRST, TIGHTEN IT. THEN DO THE NEGATIVE & TIGHTEN IT.

I Have a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500.Both the ABS and Brake Lights are on

Hi!!

Did you have the ABS sensors checked ?? The brake fluid level when low also activates the Brake and ABS lights?? Drive truck to an AutoZone store and ask to have computer codes scanned. This is a free service for all customers. This will help you to pinpoint the problem.

Good Luck!!

Does the speedometer work? Out might have a bad speed sensor in the rear axle. Did you have it scanned for codes?

did you check the brake fluid level? you dont just go replacing parts without knowing what is bad. The abs unit will have trouble codes, get those codes and tell us what they are.

Battery light came on,no power steering.Tried to drive home,ABS light came on,wipers were slow also.Pulled in,car wouldn't start again.

It is most likely your alternator. Your alternator failed and then your battery lost its charge. Have the battery charged and tested before you replace anything just to double check. Either way, the battery needs to be charged seperately. Don't try to charge it with your new alternator or jumper cables as this could burn up your new alternator.

Changed back brake pads only, after, the anti-lock abs light on dash turn on. what is the problem?

either the system needs to be "reset" or you damaged a sensor during the process. Try removing a battery cable and leave it off for a couple minutes. reconnect the cable , start & drive... if light returns, need to visit your favorite mechanc for diagnosis

ABS light just came on yesterday in my 2005 Pacifica.

Hi,

The module that connects to the ABS pump (next to battery) to be the problem.

You can do yourself,

  • Remove the battery,
  • disconnect the large cable going to the ABS,
  • unclip the 3 brake line clips on the top of the fender so the ABS pump could be removed and swapped the electronic modules- did not have to penetrate the brake lines at all.

It may take 20 minutes.
Now you can Restart and ABS light would be off.

My ABS and brake lights come on at low speeds; 1993 Ford F250

you probably have to replace the controller (abs switch under car) which on my van (2001 windstar) was about $800.00 bucks....mine was under warrenty but not any more...when you take off the battery cable this dis-engages the power to the contoller. i could be 100% wrong...take it to your mechanic...its obviously not safe like that....
