thank you i am just waiting for a good day off from work to do it..... also i was late one day and was tryin to see how the car performed and i got around 80 and the rpms were about 5000 the red line is 7000. there is no way this car will touch 100mph with out red lining unless its still in third gear at this point and shifts into fourth at like 6500 rpm. does it even have a 5th and if not why would it do that?(i just bought it for $1000 with 114k, SE, AUTO,)

SOURCE: Daewoo Leganza 2000 timing belt broke

Hi.
If the idler pulley, broke, with the car running, (I think is the most probable), There is no way to fix the car just replacing the timing belt and the idler pulley. This is an interference engine, that means if the timing belt or the idler pulley breaks, you need to replace the whole cylinder head, that's because the valves are bent. I just fix my daewoo, I tried first to just change the idler pulley and set up the time, but it did not work. I had to replace the whole head cylinder, timing belt and pulleys.

I got the information to set up the timing belt from a Library, The program is Mitchell on demand.

Thanks

1988 daewoo leganza broke a cam shaft belt , would this have caused the valves to be damaged , or do they miss getting hit by trhe pistons ?

Yes you are correct when the timing belt breaks most of the time the valves will be damaged on overhead cam engines. I dont believe its possable for the pistons to hit the valves though. The valves get bent because the cam stops turning but the crank does not. The pressure is what bends them. Hope this helps:)

Water pump replacement

You dont want to hear this, but......you really should change the timing belt once you get into the cam cover. Its not all that much more labor and the belts are cheap. Having a belt brake will destroy the valves and sometimes the pistons as well. You do know the pump is driven off the belt, right? You have to take it off anyway.

The timing marks for a 1999 daewoo leganza

Both cams have a notch in their edges, those go straight up parallel with each other pointing at the marks on the valve cover. Crankshaft pulley also has a mark that lines up with a mark on the timing belt rear cover.

Does my 2001 daewoo laganza have an interference engine

Yes it is an interference engine. Be sure to change the timing belt on maintenance schedule to avoid damage to the valves/pistons if the belt breaks. When you change belt, consider changing the tensioner and idler pulleys as well to be safe and sure. I also changed my water pump, since the labor to do so was already covered when changing timing belt.

Timing marks on a 2000 daewoo leganza

Your Daewoo has an 2.2L engine and it's an interfernce engine. Which if the timing belt pop it will bent valve's. To align timing mark's both intake and exhaust cam gear's have a mark, on backplate of gear's at 12 o'clock there a mark align both gear's to that. on crankshaft timing belt pulley has a noch on housing back of gear at the 6 o'clock there a v cut, align pulley to that. Good luck

2002 Daewoo Leganza CDX Stalls bad after Timing Belt Replacement

that's a major job, head removal and rebuild after a T-belt breakage, and hard to say if he has left something disconnected or mis-connected, or if it picked now for some other fault to develop. I've worked on those Daewoo c2000 2.0/2.2 16v GMH engines a bit, my friend bought a 1998 Leganza, I always figured them as a POS engine, frankly..he had more than one major problem with it, even though we avoided a T-belt failure.

How do you put back on a serpentine belt on a 2001 Daewoo Leganza?

Their is a belt guide under the hood on a sticker, First get the reservoir and air filter out of your way. Then get a ratchet on the pulley that is just a tensioner - by turning the bolt you create slack in the belt.
