When it’s cold the transmission will go in to all the gears, when driving it will not go in to overdrive cold or worm. When the transmission is wormed up it will not shift into any gear at all. Can you please tell me the problem and tell me how to fix it please!!!!! Thank You Dragons Mosher My E-Mail is : [email protected] rebuild
Hi there:The first thing to do (I suggest) is to perform a Transmission service, if it's not too late, remember to use the correct fluid as it has friction binders. When the pan is off look for metal in the pan.
There will always be a little on the magnet in the pan silver in color like anti-sieze. If you see alot the clutch packs are shot and it most likely requires overhall.
Did the check engine light ever light? If the fluid is burnt and dark in color it has lost it's friction properties and the valve body doesn't like that. The valves wont move as they need to.
Check, test and keep us updated.
There are three solenoids in this transmission. The third or number three solenoid controls overdrive. The number one solenoid controls the 1-2 shift and the number two solenoid controls the 2-3 shift. You can override this situation until you can replaced the solenoids. look in the front of the console in the center of the dash down by the gas pedal and to your right. This is the TCU module.(Transmission Control Module) Unplug it. This will let you shift the vehicle manually, but you will only have first second and third. This will force the shift. Remember it will not shift automatically so you will need to pay attention while driving. This is common with this transmission. You probably have the ASAIN 340E transmission in it. They are made in japan. They are used in Toyota vehicles and a few others. Look on the side of the transmission just above the oil pan on the passenger side for the identification tag. It will have the model number. Then get online and order the shift solenoids from a transmission part supplier. It will run about 300.00 for the solenoids.
SOURCE: After worming up idle surges
without a data reading scan tool and the truck in front of me, i can give a very likely cause, that would be the TPS (throttle position sensor) it tells the computer where your foot is at all times and they get testy over time giving the computer very erratic information, think garbage in/garbage out, i recommend replacing the TPS disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and seeing what happens, WARNING: only an OEM or very high quality sensor(such as NAPA,ACdelcoetc..) is recommended cheap sensors cause more issues than they are worth remember you get what you pay for
