Have you tried cycling the key a few(3-5) times, before cranking(and trying to start it?
What i mean is turn your key on, then off, and on, then off(3-5 times), and then turn the key back on, and try to crank/start the vehicle, See what that does!

If that works then you have a fuel leak somewhere.

if that DOES'NT work, fuel is leaking into your engine while it sits
(more than likely bad fuel injectors!)

I would take it to autozone to have the code read. It could be your idle control sensor, or it could even be O2 sensors. Hard to say without knowing the code.

fuel, oxygen, and spark. Check all of these. Is it getting air. Is your filter clean. Are you getting spark. if not check your plugs wires and coil. finaly check your fuel. Are you getting enough fuel. Replace the filter, make sure you are getting enough psi's before the injectors. also make sure the fuel pump is working.

You will probably need to put your car on a computer scanner.

Let me know what you find.

Run it in to an autozone, or Pep boys for a free code scan which should help point you /us in right direction. Make sure you write it/them down & get back to us.

SOURCE: I have a 99SL-2 Saturn with 90,000 miles on it.

I would think it would be a grounding problem.Check your main ground up at the battery where it connects to the frame.

Saturn vue just turns over doesnt start

For 90% of cars that try but just can't start. Key off, Pump Gas Pedal 4 x, holding it to floor (all the way down) on 4th time, then just turn key. as soon as engine starts and revvs up, let go of the gas pedal! Seriously... Do not keep the pedal down!!! This is b/c engine is 'cold', the oil that lubricates your precious engine is very thick, and you don't want to add other problems (scarred pistons/cylinders/rings and oil burning or a severely overrevved engine (screaming) at no load (you are not in gear - no drag of car weight on motor) resulting in major engine damage.

Takes hour to start why

Try this-- The next time you start the car, hold the pedal down to the floor. If it starts, Then you have a flooding problem. hold it there for 30 seconds. Then while still holding the pedal to the floor, try to start the car. Hard to say on pc. If above does not work, see or call saturn dealer to see if anyone else is having the same problem. Good-Day!

Hold gas pedal down start car

If this has a carburetor, look at the Power valve that is connected to the throttle lever. It is a small plate in front of the carb with a lever that moves with the throttle. There is a small rubber valve inside which allows gas to flow between chambers.

Another possibility is the fuel pump. After that, a bad Vacuum leak like from a ruptured EGR diaphragm can cause these problems.

97 satur sl will not remain running unless gass petal is held for at least the first 15-20 min then runs fine/////

The cold start valve needs to be replaced. It is not letting the engine warm up properly.
