Heat and air barely blowing

Hello, I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix and the heat and air barely blow any air. I bring it in but they say I will need to pay $400 to take the dash off and see what is wrong... Not going to happen. Can I do it myself? I am pretty sure the air filter and blower motor have been cleared. I can hear the motor (all 5 settings) and all of the switches and dials work.

You have a bad blend door motor. The dash has to be removed to do it depending on it's location.

Bill is right about the mode door motor causing this trouble and sadly the dash assembly needs to be removed. Very labor consuming.

SOURCE: the blower motor and AC works but the heater

if your vehicle has the electronic climate control, it is probably the blend door motor/actuator that has failed and is stuck at the temp that was last entered in the climate control unit when it failed. this can be a very time consuming repair to do as it is under the dash. the other possibility is your coolant level is low and not allowing the heater core to bring the outside air up to the temp you want. if that is the case, your low coolant temp sensor should have come on. if not, then the thermostat could be either stuck open or closed. if stuck open the engine would not always show the temp gauge at normal operating temp of 195-200 degrees. if stuck closed the engine should be overheating according to the temp gauge. you did not mention what the operating coolant temp was!

I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix 3.8l my heat only blow cold aair I checked the thermostat and the heart inlet hose is hot but the outlet hose is luke war what could this be maybe clogged heater core.

Ok fellow 2006 Grand Prix owners!! By trial and error, I went through the process of elimination because my car would over heat and had no heat inside. After changing the thermostat, I had to replace the water pump. However, after you do this, you need to open the inlet hose bleeder and let the air out a few times. This solved my issue of overheating and I now have great heat!!!

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

02 pontiac grand prix blows out cold air on passenger side when heat is on. the heat works fine on the drivers side

Problem with the blend door actuator or wiring going to it (no separate fuse). Most of the time the actuator motor fails and won't close the blend door. I can't guarantee that it isn't a broken wire going to the actuator. It should set a trouble code in the BCM (body control computer) if its electrical because it looks for a feedback as to where the door is positioned.

My heat is not getting hot. The blower is blowing, but the air coming out barely gets warm

change your thermostat... its probably stuck open not allowing it to get hot. its a fairly simple and inexpensive fix. Good Luck
