Ticking noise while car is running or idling

I have a 1999 nissan maxima. about a month ago it just started ticking whenever you turn the car on or drive it. It is also making a weird noise intermitently. it sounds like a buzzing noise that gets louder. it stops when the car stops.

I have the same problem. When I switch on air condison the noise is gone but when it is on heat mode noise is there. My AC and heating is working well. I want to know if I don't change compresor right away what kind of problems I can get into? Also, how much it should be to fix it?

Maybe is the air compresor and that's the noise that you hearing. Put the air in off if the noise stop, your problem is the compresor.

How do I test and change a bad ignition coil in a 99 Maxima?

Im having the same issue w/ my 99 maxima. had the problem 2 months ago, they replaced coil, changed plugs, told me that I would still get knock sensor code but dont worry about it. Now the rough idling and check light flashing is happening again.

Clicking noise when i start my nissan maxima 2005

White smoke indicates water being burned. Also the ticking means your loosing oil. You most likely have a blown head gasket.

Ticking noice

If your not already, try using a genuine Nissan oil filter next time you get your oil changed. Most aftermarket filters allow the oil to drain back so when you start up cold the filter is in essence dry and not primed most likely causing the noise your experiencing. This would be the first thing I would reccommend checking.
