I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl 4 liter with 143,000 miles onit. Rrecently I have been experiencing power loss when drivingafter differing distances. Pumping the gas pedal rapidly producespower enough to keep it going and even accelerating. Also theengine never dies just idles down. A friend checked the computerfor codes and their were none. He thought fuel filter, I heardperhaps torque converter. Your thoughts?
Loss of power can happen even if exhaust does not flow in other words you have a rstriction in the exhaust usualy the catalytic converter has collapsed any exhaust shop will be able to tell you right away, or when you loose power do you hear a hissing noise ? if so that is clearly a clogged converter replace the catalytic converter
Easiest thing first is fuel filter. does it have a burning? if so possable catalytic converter

They say it could be bad gas but this has happened several times ove the last 5,000 miles with gas bought in so many different locations they all cant be bad.
