I have a 1996 saturn SL1 just bought the car and the head had a pen siz hole in it. Took the head to a machine shop, they fixed it and rebuilt it. I put New head gasket kit on too. Got it running, but can't keep water in the radiator. Car gets to normal running temp and it starts spitting ALL the water out of the overflow. I've filled it about 4 times now and the same thing everytime every time. So I guess the question is WHY is it doing this?

Check the cam/crank sensors. Also, if the car happens to have a distributor, make sure it is not 180 degrees off. If this does not help, then do a compression check. Remember, and engine only needs three things to run. Fuel, Spark, and Compression. (in order of course.) The firing order for your engine is 1,4,3,2.

SOURCE: oil in the radiator

They lied to you and hadn't repaired the blown head gasket.  Or they did a horrid job.  At most it's a 5 or 6 day job.  You need a new mechanic as I'd never trust this place again.

SOURCE: 1996 saturn sl2 fan coming on late an over heating

Start with engine cool, & remove radiator cap. Check level in rad & fill to an inch or so from top of rad. Start car & turn heater on.(not defrost)
Now let it run until engine gets up to normal operating temperature & let it run until rad fan comes on & off, 2 or 3 times. Rev engine slightly every so often just to help disperse air in system faster. Fill rad as needed during this time. After you do that, and fan has come on & off 2 or 3 times, put rad cap back on & fill return bottle to proper mark, then see how it is.
I suspect it's just air in system & this should cure that . If not get back to me.

Saturn sl1 problems

That's a big dirty job trying to replace the gasket. Then you have to make sure the head is not warped. If it is then a machine shop may be able to grind it flat if the warp isn't too severe.

1996 SL1 after engine overhaul oil is having to be added regularly. Rings replaced, valve seals replaced, valves ground and reseated and head pressure tested by machine shop, head gasket replaced, timing...

Depending on how long since the overhaul, and how much oil is being used, you may not have any worries.
Engines built in the factory are within very close tolerances. Engines rebuilt in the shop are not.
So like it was 50 yrs ago, your rebuilt engine may need some break-in time to wear in. The piston rings have to seat or wear into the shape of the cylinders, and so on.
Most of the time you can expect to use some oil for the first few thousand miles then it should stop. You have to drive the car at various speeds and not under much strain for the first thousand or so.
After the first oil change at 3,000 oil consumption should drop off to normal.

Need a tranmission for 1996 sl ser.

these are sold used at junkyards, or recyclers as they are now called, and are sold rebuilt at transmission shops. more than a little work to swap them in and out.

there is a different gear ratio for the SOHC SL1 and the Dohc SL2, make sure donor car is the same engine type as yours. and the transmission should be the same, auto or manual, or you have a lot of refitting to do.

Disable my security it iprevening me form startin the car

This is a pretty common problem on GM cars. Expensive to fix, and even harder to diagnose. Read this info found on this link. It will help you understand the problem and offers some good solutions to beat this yourself. Bypassing this terrible system is a lot better than trying to have it fixed. Instead of paying the dealer mechanic to stumble thru the system and charge you for unwanted items, do this yourself.
