Any clicking ?..might be old school set up with speedo cable needing replaced inside the housing ....the square drive ends go away after time or cable breaks somewhere in middle but pressure keeps it working most of the time :)

My 1998 Polo Classic 1.6 classic's speedometer and rev counter sometimes don't work. What could it be?

Known issue with this era. Google it. Involves removing the cluster and desiring and resoldering the connections at the trace Trace connections for the speedometer and tachometer.

My toyota Hi Lux , diesel engine the speedometer does not work some times. However the km counter is working all the time. What could be the problem ? Thanks. [email protected]

Its probalby the actual guage. The counter and speedometer all work off the speed snesor so if one is working and not the other its more then likely the actual guage thats bad!!

I've got a 1991 BMW 525i which has done 253,000 km. It's been a good car but, the instrument panel on the dashboard has gone silly over the past couple of weeks. When I first start the car in the morning,...

this is just a rough guess, but i think it would be the battery or the alternator. Some part store have testers that they will check both for free.

Rev counter jumps whilst idling and then engine cuts out

Your problem sounds as if the thermo sensor....which controls the air fuel ratio when engine is cold....is faulty. It is a common fault on this model.
This is not an expensive part, and takes only a short time to fit.
Good luck

Speedometer Needle for Hyundai 2004 Accent

If your transmission fluid level is okay, then you need a new speedometer cable. Its not terribly difficult to replace, but it does require you to pull the instrument cluster. A local Hyundai dealership might be willing to photocopy the specific speedometer cable replacement instructions out of the 2004 Accent shop manual.
