I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. One of the low beam headlights is dim. I have changed the bulb and checked the ground wires. Also, the dash lights now flicker on and off at irregular intervals. It sounds like a ground wire has a break in it but I can't find the break. Have checked all the fuses as well and they are all good.

Check to make sure your ground straps are still clean and connected between the block and firewall.

SOURCE: Electrical low-beam headlight wire on 02 Chevy Trailblazer burnt

Get yourself to a junkyard and pack yourself a light lunch while you're at it. Take a leisurely stroll through the junk that closely resembles the one you need parts for. Go to the closest wiring harness to the headlight assembly, take your time and don't go trying to **** it, and unplug it from the bulbs up front. Make a simple and straight forward swap and do take the time to stop and smell the junkers, it's quite relaxing! Then, you should seriously make sure your new wiring harness is properly grounded (!), which I suspect to have been a contribing factor to your problem of overheating the bulb socket. Do take the time to go over the stuff that should be grounded and make it so. Th e job is quite simple and well worth you taking the time to do it yourself.

SOURCE: chevy cavalier 1996 headlight not working, day

Did you replace the relay for the day time running lights which for some dumb reason is mounted under the front bumper? Climb under and look straight up and you should see it...mine was mounted in about the center (on the frame in front of the radiator. Sounds similar to an issue I had and it cleared up once I replaced the part...had to get from dealer still.

Left headlights

Check your connections at the wiring harness going to headlights for corrosion, sounds like high resistance somewhere, also make sure your ground wires are secure. It wouldn't be the alternator or the battery would be dead and not start the engine. Also shouldn't be any condensation in your head light assembly's or will cause bulbs to blow prematurely.

1997 Chevy Cavalier. Bulbs/Fuses are good. Weird Headlight issues.

It could be a ground problem, or the dimmer switch. I would check for power and ground at the lights with them unplugged and then take a look at the dimmer switch.

HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty headlight switch or issue with its wiring. Or its faulty head light fuse.

2003 ford taurus has a head light that is dim . i checked the wires with a meter and i get 12 volts from side two side and middle wire gets nothing. because i can read 12 volts does that mean the ground is...

That sounds like you have 1 ground wire, 1 wire for the low beam, and 1 wire for the high beam. If the car has the standard halogen headlight bulb I would recommend replacing it and seeing if that fixes the problem.

Have headlight problem 2002 chevy malibu v-6 on the dim side have electria current on both wires to the blub bright beams function normal

if you have power to both headlight plugs for each low and high beam filaments and the ground is good as you say the high beams function normally then you either have bad low beam bulb filaments, poor or dirty connection or you have a daytime running headlight relay on the car and that is the problem with the low beam lights.yes the high beams will work but not low beams if it is the relay.

Head light is real dim

Likely you have a bad ground at the bulb socket! You can either clean it, add another ground wire, or both! Don't ground a power lead... Identify both running power and hi-beam power before making ground! You can use a test light to do this!
