Earlier in the evening while at a stop light, it would not go into any gear, despite the clutch pedal being pressed all the way down to the floor. I shut the engine off and I restarted it while in first gear and it seemed to solve the problem. However, 15 minutes or so later, at another light, the car failed to accelerate while in gear. I tried it in all 5 gears, as well as reverse and it won't accelerate in any of them. I've never had this problem before, and the car has run fine up until this incident. Could it be a linkage issue? Or maybe the clutch or transmission? I'm hoping that it's something simple, as I just literally bought this car a few days ago.

Check your battery connections. You most likely have a loose battery cable at battery. If those check good cllean & tight.check all your grounds

This vehicle has a pair of shift cables which attatches to the shifter and runs to the transmission shift housing. To diagnose, removal of the center console is in order so you can inspect and verify the shifter/cable connections and movement, then verify the cables move the linkages properly at the transmission . These cables are a fairly common failed part and sold as the set, these are a dealer item and no aftermarket cables are available .

It may be that the seat or the margin on the valve was cut wrong.....

I removed the center console and checked the linkage connections to the shifter and aside from worn bushings causing the shifter to feel a little looser, all the linkages at the shifter end moved properly. I was not, however, able to check the linkages at the transmission end of things. I'm hoping to get it onto jack stands tomorrow to take a look at it.
