This is coming for ford
products. They use w door ajar switch that is attached to the door
latch assembly. The most common one to fail is the driver front.
Something you can try is clean the out side of the door latch, the part
that actually holds the door shut, with brake clean. Don't be afraid to
liberally spray into the latch assembly. Let it dry and then liberally
spray the same area with penetrating lube. Again don't be afraid to
spray it in every nook and cranny you can get into. Then open and close
the door several time. Spray it again with the penetrating lube and
repeat a couple of times.
If the door ajar light goes out when the door
is closed problem solved.
If the light continues to stay on you have two options.
1. Your can remove all fivedoor
panels and unplug the door switches one at a time until the door
acharya light goes out. Again the switch is located on the latch
assembly and has a two wire connector. Once you find the one that is
stuck you can remove it and either clean it/lube it until it starts to
work again or replace it. The switches twist into position in the latch
assembly and if it's your first one it may be easier for you to remove
the latch from the door to understand how the switch is attached.
Neither is an easy task your first time.
2. You can have a shop use a scan tool to communicate with the GEM
module to see what switch is stuck open. You can then focus on that
door. There will be a diagnostic charge for this. Call around and see
what various shops in your area charge for this. They will know exactly
what you are talking about when you explain the problem as it is very
common.

Hope that helps. Let us know what you find!
Usually the solution to this problem is to use a good penetrating oil and spray HEAVILY the latch mechanism (both doors), let it soak in, and open/close the door 15-20 times-the sensor is in the door and it gets hung up, spraying lubricant on the latches frees it up.
Spray the door locks with penetrating oil, both sides, where the door latch-then open/close the door many times (12-2- times) to loosen the mechanism, it will fix this, a very common issue on Mark VIII's
A door ajar switch is probably bad but some suggestions say to open the door spray the latches with some penetrating oil open and shut the doors a few times.Sometimes this method does work temporarily. The best solution would be to hook up a scan tool that is capable of determining which door it views as being ajar. Some of these models have just a door ajar switch attached to the the door latch mechanism others may require the door latch to be replaced.
At least one of your door ajar switches are sticking. Try spraying rust penetrant into the latches and open and close the doors several times. If they still stay on you will have to locate which latch it is by removing the door panels and disconnecting the switches.
Try spraying some penetrating oil in the door latch...the latch assembly on many of the newer vehicles have a switch inside that tends to stick...give it a try and it may be a real inexpensive fix.
The sensor for the lights is in the door latch spray some GOOD penetrant in the door latch (WD 40 IS NOT A PENETRATING OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) open and shut the door several times after you let the penetrant soak a bit Liquid wrench, PB Blaster, BG Penetrant, are good
