I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that will not down shift upon coming to a stop. You then need to manually shift the transmission. The shift indicators( P,R,D,etc.) have square blocks around them. The vehicle had a code that stated it could not communicate with the TCM. I replaced the TCM and I am still experiencing the same problems Any help would be great.

Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!

Lets all get together and form a class action law suit. This should be a recall. but no body has been killed yet.Our tax dollars get to bail them out so they on keep making defective products.I wounder would they except defective money for there cars.

My 2000 dodge durango will not shift into over drive took it to autozone and the code came back as a sensor in the transmission. How do I get to it to change it out.... Chould it really just be a sensor?...

It could easily just be a sensor, but if you don't know much about transmissions, you are best served to take it to a transmission shop and let them fix it. Now days, transmissions are very hard to work on yourself.

2000 durango 4.7 v8 tranny slip or something. Plzz help!!!

First thing you want to do, is get all that additive stuff out of there & get new filter & proper fluid in there. Mopar ATF 4. then disconnect battery for minute or 2 & start fresh as far as storing trouble codes goes. Chrysler transmissions don't react well to improper fluids or additives. If it starts to act up again, or check engine light comes on, have it scanned for codes at Autozone, or Pep boys & see what codes if any, come up. Don't prolong any transmission problem, as it will only cost you more in the end, if you don't take care of it right away.

Dodge Durango Transmission Problem

Code 0753 means Transmission 3-4 shift solenoid or transmission relay circuit problem. The PCM (engine computer) is seeing an incorrect input electrically for the gear or speed it should be seeing. You will need to find a qualified transmission shop to diagnose the problem. Possible causes for the trouble code start with worn/dirty fluid, electrical repairs & transmission overhaul.

My truck is acting up

Check to see if the throttle shift position cable that goes to the transmission is sticking or that the return tension spring might be streached or broken Mine was sticking I had hard upshifts when it finally shifted later than it should & also erratic down shits when coming to a stop. Replaced the cable & used fluid film on the lever going into the transmission Better than a $ 2000 to $3000

2000 DURANGO 5.2 AUTO

I would get the transmission fluid and filter changed by an ASE certified mechanic. That transmission is designed to put itself into second gear as a limp home mode. If you only have the problem when it is cold, you might still have a chance to save your transmission from total failure by changing.
