To get suggestions you will have to give details on the engine , make model , efi or carburated , multi point or single point injection and what controls the EGR unit

SOURCE: DPFE EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor Issue - 2001 Mercury Sable

The DPFE sensor is a very common failure on all Ford models. Just have the sensor replaced. Or do it yourself. It is very easy to change you can do it in 10 minutes.

SOURCE: My problem is finding the DPFE on my 1996 Mercury

Dear FixYa,
Thanks for the past help but at $10-$20 a question keeping my old car running can get expensive. And it would be an abuse of your help to send in a long, multi problem message to get away with one payment. Yes, you are cheaper than going to a commercial garage but the point of using the internet is to find the best and cheapest.
If you ever decide to switch over to a diffeent business model with 6 month or one year subscriptions please do include me in your mailing.
Thanks,

SOURCE: DPFE changed out burning smell

Check the fuel system, the pump and the fuel pressure regulator or Mass Air Flow Sensor. Evaporated emissions are the fumes that your fuel gives off. The pollution control system pulls them back into the intake to burn them off when you are running your engine. There is a vacuum line that is leaking between the fuel tank and the sensor that detects this or your gas cap is loose or leaking. It could also be a bad sensor which detects vacuum pressures from the tank. If everything has been check, then check inside the throttle by pulling off your Air pressure Intake then open the throttle by using screwdriver or any tools than can push in one the fuel control line to open, which is attach on the left side of the throttle. and if you look straight inside, you will see three hole. Then look by the bottom and you will see the two hole cover with black burned Oil. This means your fuel mixer (Throttle) is not pushing out air properly it gets clog , and the only way to get out is when you push the Gas peddle which is the burned gas will come all the way out to the Air Intake and it will circulate to any open area. If I was right about this! Your solution is to buy a Air Intake Cleaner or Carb-Throttle Cleaner. with the engine OFF, spray inside the throttle by using the red straw and point it to clean the two black clog hole. then wait for a about10 minutes or more to dry up cleaner after spraying the inside throttle. When you start the engine, black smoke will come out to the muffler. No worry this is normal to the engine, means the cleaner is burning and working to get out. Without cleaning the throttle body, the engine will soon stall, or stop without any giving warning light, because this means your A.C. Pressure Clutch and Idle Pully barring are NO longer working properly and maybe totally wormed out. You may also change the throttle position sensor. and check all your Gas and Oil Intake Hoses for a leak. hope this will help to solve your problem. P.S. You can also spray the Intake cleaner to your Intake Mass Air Flow Pressure Filter before putting it back to the throttle body.

While driving my jeep seems to be shifting gears the rpms rev up and then goes back down almost as if surging I changed speed sensor as a guess so far but did not work?

old 1995
we need vastly more symptoms then that, sorry
if the engine surges, that is first. (surges in 1 gear)
but if a transmission down shifts that is normal, rpm rises
(after all its a lower gear) (higher numeric ratio)
find any machanic in town
ask him test drive it.!
10 min.later he wilt tell you
its trans issues.
or its engine, super easy this is driving.

seems you can not, and learning is 1hour in car class..or 10x that lacking facts of drive train functions.

stop guessing. why spend cash on a useless sensor now.
spend cash on $1 shop diagnosis and WIN.
i promise !

or get it scanned.
and post all those DTC errors. P0700? and more.

Idle surging down a little when at stop lights in my 2000 mustang 3.8 never dies but seem's close.every 6 to 10 seconds no difference noticed while driving down the road. changed AIC valve for a c

probably cause by the a/c cutting in and out or running at idle . Fit an idle compensator to the system throttle or raise the idle speed 300rpm.

Engine surges especially at low speeds

Disconnect your MAF sensor and take the Astro for a ride. If you notice an improvement; Try cleaning the MAF with CRC MAF sensor cleaner.

Car surges and is sluggish with AC on.

When they rebuilt your transmission they didn't hook back the speed sensor to the connector. I think the problem with the A.c is something else your spark plugs cables might need change and spark plugs too
