Oil dipstick tube broke

I just bought a 2001 celica w/131k on it. changed the oil, then drove about 300 mi. went to check oil and dipstick tube broke. car is showing no oil. Is this possible? there is no oil under the hood or on driveway. I don't really want to add oil for fear of putting in too much. any advice would be helpful

Did the tube break off, or did it come out. there should be a rubber seal and a bracket for a bolt to go through if it just came out.

Look on dip stick you should see cross hatched area with add oil or oil full mark.if you wipe oil dip stick with a clean paper towel and dip stick look dry no sign of oil add little oil at a time see if oil level reach add oil mark or the full mark.if oil is low. low oil light will turn on if bulb is blowed but if dip stick look dry oil level could be low,add little bit at a time dont over fill.

01 Lincoln nativagator oil tube dipstick broke off an don't know where to find the other part that's still on the engine an what I need to get it replaced an how soon?

The part that broke off might be long enough to still be in the tube and you can get it out by removing the tube out of the block should be just pressed in and can be pulled out, check to see if it has a bolt holding it. If the part that broke off is short and fell into the oil pan don't worry about it just put in a new dipstick

2006 Cobalt - Brown thick sludge on dipstick

If the oil level (checked with the dipstick) is VERY high, and the oi on the dipstick looks like chocolate milk (or just after running, foamy chocolate milk), this usually means either the head gasket is blown, or the cylinder head or the engine block is cracked, allowing the engine coolant to mix with the engine oil.

How to Change transmission fluid on 2001 celica

Hi there, hope these few steps help:
  • Raise the car with a jack and support the vehicle with jack stands sufficiently rated to safely support the weight of the vehicle.
  • Place a large drip pan under the transmission.
  • Remove the transmission fluid drain bolt with a wrench. The drain bolt is located at the bottom of the transmission facing the pan. The pan is the large flat plate that covers the very bottom of the transmission.
  • Drain the transmission fluid into the drip pan.
  • Reinstall the transmission fluid drain bolt with the same wrench used to remove the bolt.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground after removing the jack stands.
  • Open the hood and remove the transmission dipstick from the filler tube by pulling the dipstick. The end of the dipstick will be curved into a circle to allow a finger to slide into the circle to withdraw the dipstick.
  • Place a funnel into the dipstick tube and fill the transmission with new fluid by pouring the fluid into the dipstick tube.
  • Remove the funnel and check the fluid level with the dipstick until the fluid reaches the "Full" mark on the tip of the dipstick.
  • Start and allow the engine to run for a few minutes.
  • Move the transmission gear selector through all of the gears while depressing the brake pedal.
  • Turn the engine off and check the fluid level on the dipstick. Add transmission fluid if necessary.
Best of luck.

The oil has to be going somewhere. Just to clarify, when you say no oil on the dip stick, You do mean when checking the oil correct? If your not leaking oil, then perhaps you are burning oil? How often do you add oil to this vehicle and how many miles are on this vehicle?

Oil dipstick tube

On my girlfriend's 93 (same generation), it's right in front, between the two middle exhaust manifold runners. You should see a hole in the heat shield, and the dipstick handle is right there. If the dipstick is missing, look through that hole with a flashlight and you'll see the tube there.
