1994 nissan pickup cabstar difficulty selecting gear but clutch is fine

Is it noisy? like singing or whistling when the clutch pedal is pressed? To replace it, you will have to pull the transmission off, so might as well get a new clutch pack. It will have a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and clutch release bearing -AKA throw-out bearing.
A separate throw-out bearing is about $30, a new clutch pack is about $150. You wouldn't want to replace the bearing, and then have to do it all over again to replace the clutch.

the clutch adjustment will be at the end of the cable . to make the clutch release better the outer cable has to be shortened so see how this can be done . Either by a screw adjustment on the end of the cable or adjusting slots and brackets.. If you do not have a manual as to how to do it then talk with a service department or brake shop and have it explained to you

check the fluid in the clutch system (if hydraulic) (replace cable if manual). Bleed air out of system replace the clutch master cylinder.

Could be your clutch slave cylinder is bad,check your clutch fluid,if real low or empty then it is bad,it's located on the side of the transmission with a hydraulic hose connected to it,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 5- speed,had to replace mine a few times.Here's a link on how to do. your clutch uses a hydraulic master and slave cylinder to disengage. It is likely that the slave has been leaking and the reservoir gone dry, thus allowing air into the system and reducing effectiveness. Check the clutch master cylinder reservoir (near the brake reservoir) fluid level. If low, also check the slave cylinder at the clutch for leakage. If leaking, replace the slave and bleed the system. you need to pump the pedal hard then release the bleed nipple then before you foot hits the floor close the nipple quick,you may have to do this several times to get out the air that is rising quicker than you are pumping out the fluid.....

nissan nissan ¿¿??¿¿? remember --.- think the plug gap was something silly 18 or 22 th and firing order was 1243 or 1342 ,these had the points under a metal bracket with a brass bush in it to stop sideways play on the shaft and the points had two screws on sloping slots ,and the clutch was easy to change as i remember with a column gear change lever.The ford transit was a better vehicle to drive though.Sorry but you end up with oldtimers when you get old and the memory fails

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.

easy replace both parts then fill the clutch reservoir,crack slave cly bleeder to let gravity bleed let 1 to 2 reservoirs flow through,tighten bleeder and pump clutch pedal,pump 4 or 5 times hold down pedal get 2nd person to crack bleeder while pedal is down,tighten bleeder before releasing pedal,should work fine

To determine which type of clutch you have, servo hydraulic or cable.
Look down past the engine bell housing and determine the existance of a hydraulic clutch slave cylinder.(a piece of casting with a rod facing towards the rear of the vehicle pocket into a bracket protruding out of the gearbox bell housing. As well as a pipe and bleed nipple to be crude)
(which I believe you have).The hydraulic fluid for this unit is sourced from the brake master cylinder reservoir via a sneaky pipe partially obscured to the clutch master cylinder on the internal firewall.If you have no clutch slave cylinder near the bell housing there would be an obvious bounden cable running from the firewall down to the outer of which will be stopped at a bracket hanging off the engine.The inner will continue to a bracket protruding from the gearbox bell housing.
