It would appear your thermostat is stuck in the closed position , find where it is on your engine, drain coolant and remove thermostat housing and stat, replace housing(liquid gasket OK) and coolant. now run engine, turn heater controls to hot leaving filler cap off, top up any water to max and replace cap now warm up to temp until fan comes on. if all ok replace thermostat with a new one and new gasket, you could also flush the sytem out at the same time with a hose pipe by loosening one of coolent pipes and flush radiator.

I dont have any heat and i need to know how to replace the hearter core, however the windows aren't fogging up so maybe its the thermostat

the only way you should have to replace a heater core is if it leaks or gets plugged up. When motor is hot feel the two hoses that go to the heater core. one should be fairly hot and the other should be the same but if one is just warm then follow hose and locate a flow valve and check for operation. OPening and closing with control hot /cold knob. Check coolant level in radiator while cold as well as fill reservoir to full when cold. Also remove radiator cap when cold and warm truck and check for flow of coolant. if lower radiator hose is hot hot hot and upper hose is cool then thermostat may not be opening properly, or thermostat is stuck open not building heat. You didnt mention if truck was overheating?? If its not i'd check for the flow valve operation, if it is i'd make sure coolant levels are full and waterpump is working.

2004 audi a4 temperature is going on high when driving and then temperature goes to normal when i stop

SOUND LIKE FAULTY CLUTCH FAN OR THE AUXILIARY ELECTRIC COOLANT FAN NOT RUNNING. CHECK AUXILIARY FAN FUSE AND RELAY. IF LOOK GOOD HOT WIRE TO SEE IF FAN TURNS ON IF NOT FAN FAULTY. IF FAN RUNS YOU HAVE FAULTY THERMO SWITCH. WHICH LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF RADIATOR ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OR ON THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF FANS OKAY COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT.REPLACE THERMOSTAT.HAVE RADIATOR AND ENGINE FLUSHED.CHECK IN FRONT OF GRILLE MAKE SURE NO DEBRIS BLOCKING OFF AIR FLOW THROUGH RADIATOR CORES AND AC CONDENSOR CORES.

TO FIX COOLANT LEAK.YOU HAVE TO LOCATE IT.BEST TIME FIND COOLANT LEAK WAIT UNTIL MORNING.ADD COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL IN RADIATOR CORRECT. START THE ENGINE LET IDLE UNTIL START GETTING HOT.THEN TURN OFF ENGINE.COOLANT PRESSURE WILL PUSH COOLANT OUT WHERE LEAKS ARE.CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.CHECK AROUND RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BELOW COOLANT FAN AREA BEHIND RADIATOR.LOOK FOR LEAKS AT RADIATOR CORES AND SIDE CONTAINERS.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND WATER PUMP GASKET OR WEEP HOLE.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND HEATER HOSES AND HEATER CORE.CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE FOR COOLANT LEAKS.

Car overheated and lost all power. how do I get it to start?

ENGINE NOT GOING TO START IF GET TOO HOT FIRST THING I WOULD REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP THEN ADD COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT THATS WHEN THERMOSTAT OPEN UP AND TOP HOSE HOT.CHECK FOR LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE CHECK BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BELOW COOLANTS FANS CHECK FOR LEAKS AT RADIATOR CORES OR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS. CHECK FOR LEAKS AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE HEATER HOSES AROUND ENGINE BLOCK TO THE HEATER CORE HOSES. THERE IS A REASON CAR OVERHEAT.IF CAR OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING YOU HAVE FAULTY THERMOSTAT OR LEAKING OUT COOLANT OR BLOWN HEAD GASKET.IF ENGINE OVER HEAT WHILE SITTING DURING A LONG IDLING PERIOD.YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.HOT WIRE COOLANT TO SEE IF IT RUNS IF NO REPLACE FAN MOTOR. IF YES FAN MOTOR COULD HAVE FAULTY WIRE OR PCM FAILURE. CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE ENGINE HEAD GASKET LEAKING.

2000 chevy malibu keeps overheating. wont hold coolant. coolant boils out through overflow. and heater has stopped working

hi this could be caused by a couple of things, thermostat not opening is one of the main one, fan heater switch on the radiator is another, and obviously water leak is another, the first one thermostat, can replaced relatively cheaply, for a few bucks, you could do it yourself if you have the correct tools, to find out if it is thermostat, fill water first, run motor till it starts to get hot, feel the hoses on either side of the radiator ( top and bottom hoses be careful not to burn yourself in the process) if one is very hot, and the other is warm to cold, that will be the thermostat, second, the radiator fan switch, fill water, run motor, watch temp Gage, if by the time it has reached over half way on the temp Gage and the rad fan has still not cut in then this is normally a sign the switch on the radiator is u/s and needs replacing ( check fuse for fan to and relay this will also stop fan from working ) also to check for leaks, fill water, ( try not to spill any ) then if available a large cloth or sheet under car, run engine ( making sure first the other items have been checked ) and just observe for dripping water hope this helps

I have a 1995 v4 auto. honda accord. It runs hot

With overheating problems, yes. Even if it doesn't fix the problem, the thermostat could be damaged by high temperatures.

If it doesn't fix it, check and make sure the electronic fans operate properly; the relays that operate them tend to fail due to age.
