I have check engine soon Light on my 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S. It starts making big shake and sound when I stop and my car in gear and also GAS smell start coming. When, I shift D to neutral, it become well.
Code reader shows “Crankshaft position Sensor problem”, but I replaced new sensor from dealer, reset check engine light. After few miles engine light comes on again and still same problem. Please advice. Thanks.
This problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.
My service engine soon light came on saturday on my 2003 nissan altima 2.5s, took it to the dealer and he stated I need a Catalytic Converter for the light to go off. Last yr Jan I had the same thing happen and there was a recall on the ECM they reset it for free. Any suggestions? I am so tired of getting ripped off being a single woman. The repair price they gave me was $940, my mechanic says he can repair w/new converter total charge of $300

I have exactly the same problem, first it was the camshaft sensor ichanged that, then it was crankshaft sensor i changed that too, now i am getting crank shaft sensor again and also a speed sensor.
I just replaced all spark plugs and 1 bad Ignition Coil, Problem Fixed, easy to check and replaced. May be one of 4 is bad causing problem. I found on eBay for $60, NISSAN dealership have same part for $125. It works for me.
