probably not the rod(its made of steel) mostlikely the handle broke on the inside of door panel(plastic) remove handle and inspect. sometimes the rod just pops out and u can just hook it back up
remove the inside panel of the door. the arms that attach to the handle will need to be removed , ( they are little plastic clips that usually are very brittle,, so use care in removing them. ) replace the handle with the new one,, Its really pretty easy once you get the inside panel off and an actually see what your doing, good luck
you will need to remove the panel, usually for screws located on arm rest, door handle and sometimes around the middle of the panel behind a round plastic cover. Once all the screws are out the panel pops off, you will need to disconnect the power switches from the inside. Then look at the inside of the door, there is a retaining clip that holds the lever inside the door handle it may have fallen off or the handle cracked. Hope this helped tim
inside the handle there is ONE screw covered by a piece of plastic. remove the plastic and then remove the screw. pull handle out and disconnect it from the door latch bar. replace in reverse
Acura's and honda door handles are a little tricky to do.
make sure the window is all the way up.Then
1. u must remove the inside door panel.
next there is a plug on the inside edge of the door . remove this plug.
2. there is a 10mm bolt that hold the door handle on.
on some honda's and acura's door there will be a latch connecting rod. you will need a small tipped screw driver to remove this.
3. next there will be a 10mm bolt connecting the handle to the door inside. remove this bolt.
once the bolts carefully lift the handle upwards to remove the handle from the outside of the door.
At this point u can remove the door latch and other items that u wish to replace.
To install.. reverse this procedure.
Note.. is some cases there will be connecting wires to the handle and door latch itself. they must be disconnected prior to removeing and other components. Its a pain to do, but if u do not do this the connections could break and it is even harder to repair.
Take your time and don't force the parts apart. they are only plastic
You have to take the door panel off, there are two bolts that hold it on from the inside. Remove the rod that connects the handle to the door latch. You don't have to take it completely off, just remove where it is clipped the to handle. Make sure the window is rolled up before removing the door panel.
behind the inside door handle by removing the inner cover you well find two screws remove them by the inside grab handle on the door there is a small rubber mat remove the mat on the upper right corner is a trim piece it just pops off once the screws and trim is removed use a small screw driver and go below the door panel and wedge it between the panel & door and pull back on the screw driver until you here a pop the door panel is held on by plastic clips :caution--when removing the panel DO NOT YANK ON THE DOOR PANEL. THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE IS STILL ATTACHE D TO THE DOOR PANEL. if you dont unhook this cable before removing door panel you will break the plastic end of the cable if you break this you will have to replace the cable then this well involve removing the latch because the cable is hooked inside the latch hope this helps
