Rough running and sounding 2006 saturn vue

Last night my saturn vue started running rough and it sounded like it was trying to die. this morning when i turned on the defrost it died. it started back up but now it wont drive very well. i can not gain speed and the rpm's arent any different than before this problem. i had my oil changed about 1000 miles ago, i have never changed my spark plugs. does anyone know of a possible solution of what this may be and how to fix it?

Have you tried charging or replacing the battery? If the battery is fully charged you may have a dead cell in the spark plug.

SOURCE: how to preform a tune-up on my 2009 Saturn Vue

It has a maintenance recomendation from the manufacturer for replacement of the spark-plugs at 100,000 miles. You don't list mileage or V6 or L4 cylinder. Make sure engine is cold because the cylinder heads are aluminum and can be damaged if plugs are removed hot or overtightened upon reassembly. Remove spark-plug wires and replace spark-plugs. Sometimes the wires break when you remove them and will require replacement. If you coat the inside of the wires where they connect with the plugs with dielectric grease it will help prevent the wires from breaking upon future disassembly.

SOURCE: 2002 Saturn Vue won't start

Non-start situations basically boil down to two things: No Fuel, or no spark.

I you are looking to throw a part at it, start with the crank sensor. They are cheap and not too hard to replace.

A full diagnostic approach would be to determine if it was a fuel or a spark problem. Check fuel pressures with a fuel pressure test guage: Low fuel pressure indicates a bad fuel pump or a bad fuel presssure regulator. Lastly on the fuel side, check t see if the injectors are getting a signal to fire, usually done with something called a noid light, I believe.

Spark diagnosis begins with first determining the condition, then finding the cause. Bad coil, loose wires, even the crank sensor are all suspect. A good repair manual with a flow chart is probably the best procedure to follow.

In my case, my manual only had a passing reference to the crank sensor and no diagnostic procedure to test it or even lead me to it. I found the solution through extensive web searches. Once I replaced it, all was well.

Hi all,
I currently own a 2005 saturn vue and also a 2002 saturn vue. My 2005 began making the same whistling sound around 36000 miles, I let it go and let it go. Finally it got so bad I could not deal with it any longer, I have a great mechanic and he automatically point out the carrier bareing I had it replaced and my car is very very peaceful...... :) Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2006 Saturn Vue squeaking when I turn the wheel R or L

That sounds like a power steering issue. Does it make the sound when the car is stationary?

2007 Saturn vue v6. The battery light and a light with a car with a wrench in it came on last night. It started this morning but then it died and now will not start. Is this the battery or alternator?

At this point maybe both. The battery light comes on when the alternator is not supplying enough power to operate the vehicle, and the battery is being forced to provide the difference. This problem, if not serviced, will quickly drain the battery. Replacement of the alternator is most likely needed. Be advised that alternator manufacturer/re-builder will not warrant an alternator that is installed on a car with a dead battery. So have you battery checked out; if it is good get it charged first. If it's bad replace it along with the alternator and you should have no problems.

Hi...my 2005 Saturn Vue (36000 miles) is dying on me. Everything starts with the lights of the dash board going off out of the blue, and then the car starts loosing power. I try to accelerate it but...

I suggest that you take it to another mechanic, preferably one that specializes in electrical problems. It sounds like you have some type of electrical short somewhere and it will take some time to properly diagnose it. When the car is running, does the Check Engine Light stay on?

Engine runs rough

soo many mechanical possibilities if you started a frozen motor..do you plug vehicle in with a water heater at night to keep it from freezing where you live?...you'll need to have a compression test to determine if a ring or valve train component didnt break from starting it when frozen..

'03' Vue has trouble starting

Sounds like the fuel pump may be going out. By the way the power steering is electric in Saturn, so it does not require the engine to be running.
