pcm fuse blows instantly ???? What number fuse , how many amps ? Where is it located ? under hood fuse box . ECM fuse 10amp ,underhood fuse box ????
When does the fuse blow ? when you turn the key to the start position . How about when you turn it to just on position ? Replacing the ignition switch an the column ????? Why did you replace these ? You think it was going to fix the problem ? or someother problem ? Bad computer maybe .
Fuses blow because there is an overload on the system. If the fuse blows when you step on the brakes then there may be a short in the wiring from the brake light switch to the lights, abs module or turn signal switch. If the fuse blows when you turn the key on then there is likely a short in the wiring to the brake light switch. Basically you will need a wiring schematic to check the wires at the switch and at each of the loads. Also verify that the fuse is supposed to be a 10 amp fuse. Hope this helps
Most likely a short in the directional circuit. Start at the blubs and disconnect the connectors at the bulb sockets. disconnect one at a time and see if the fuse continues to blow. When the fuse stops blowing you have found which circuit it is. Also, this could be the stalk switch on the steering column. disconnect and see if the fuse blows, and don't forget the 4 way flasher switch also. Lastly, pull the relay and check if the fuse still blows.
A bad something, yes. The fuse may be the primary fuse for the key switch. If it is, you would need to disconnect the key switch harness and check for a short to ground on each circuit.
I am assuming you are talking about the circuit that powers the key switch. I'm showing a fuseable link to the starter relay instead of a fuse. If it is the circuit that powers the switch, I would disconnect the switch and see if the fuse blows as each circuit is powered one at a time using a jumper wire. You can get 30amp circuit breakers that plug into the fuse slot to use while you are testing circuits. You may need a repair book or shop manual to find out what is powered by that fuse since it is most everything on the car.
I'm no expert but when you turn key to run position, this turns the fuel pump on if the pump is faulty i would think it would blow the fuse also. Or its your theory a short in the ignition system wiring.
It sounds like a bad ignition switch or something is grounding out.Try to isolate the problem to key positions.See if the fuse blows when you turn the key to ACC(when your dash lights come on without starting)If the fuse does not blow then when you go to start it and it blows it could be one of many problems, the more common ones could be ignition switch, wiring, starter relay, starter soleniod,or perhaps the starter itself is shorting out, this can sometimes happen when a starter goes bad.
Ignition fuse blows every time van is started. Why?
