The speakers only work 10% of the time in my 99 malibu, for instance when I hit a bump they will either start working all of the sudden or shut off also if any speaker ever turns on its always only 1 speaker that works at a time. I assume there is a short some where but have no clue how to go about finding it with out physically looking at every inch of wiring between the speakers and the radio. I do know there is power going to the stereo and cd player. and that it is picking up a signal from the antenna or at least the radio shows that it is even when the speakers aren't working

Your fuses are most likely out. The thing is, is that if any of those wires touch you can blow out some fuses, that may mess with the odometer, gas, oil and temp readings. More than likely your fuses have busted when you were changing out or even when you ran that wire directly from the battery.

Hope that i could help you out. If worst came to worst, you would probably just need a continuity tester to see what wires were giving power, after you changed those blown out fuses.

you wired it up wrong or you have the fade and or balance adjusted wrong on stereo.

what you will need is the radio adapter kit for your car make. also you need a wiring connector for the car between car wiring and radio. match the wires to wires on radio, and then the connector will fit car wiring connector, just plug it in to car wiring.
