Question about 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche

1 Answer

2005 Chevrolet Avalanche -

I took my 2005 Avalanche in for an oil change at Firstone. Before giving it to them I set the alarm as I normally do and when doing so the horn beeps and the lights flashed as normal. After Firestone finished the oil change it will no longer function in this manner. I have reset the alarm per the operating manual and the alarm is set but, when setting it it acts as it would if programmed not to sound the horn or flash the lights. Any suggestions on why this might be?

SOURCE: change oil light

Engine Off, Key to Run position, depress and release gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.

Only do this after changing the oil. Don't worry so much about 3,000 miles, the silverado will calculate when to change your oil next based on miles and driving conditions. -This only works if you only reset the oil light soon after changing the oil.

SOURCE: how to reset oil light after oil change on 2005 trailblazer

  1. Turn the key to the "ON" position
  2. Press the accelerator all the way to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds
  3. You should see the oil light flash, once it stops flashing, turn the key off
  4. Wait 10 seconds before starting the vehicle, the oil light should now be reset
  5. If this doesn't reset the light, repeat steps 1-4 paying careful attention to pressing accelerator all the way to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds
Best of luck.

I have a 2009 avalanche ltz. The 3rd brake light is not working I took it out and the led's are all good when I comnnected a 9v battery to the leads. Rest of my lights work fine. What the heck?

Did you check the fuses? It could also be a bad connection somewhere in the cab.
If you have had anything like extra speakers, sound system or alarm installed, suspect everything the installers came near.

Avalanche alarm goes off and key wont start

Try disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes. This may clear the security code and allow the normal key to operate. The sensor in your tire may have gotten damaged when it was repaired (this is not uncommon). The solution, take it to a tire store, they can change the sensor if needed.
