I'm a little confused as to what type of power steering fluid I can use. Do I have to go to a Jaguar dealer to purchase some or can I go and purchase some at my local Canadian Tire? If someone can let me know the proper type I can use, I would really appreciate it.
Mobil ATF meeting Dexron 3 Specifications or any good quality Dexron 3 commercial product
The correct power steering fluid is Castrol HSMO, hydraulic system mineral oil.
It is expensive and worth getting the leak fixed. It is likely an o ring or seal.
I been told you can use Citroen FHM type fluid. After curing a minor return hose leak on my xj40 power steering, I have added a little with no ill effects. I'm going to keep adding a little at a time - so far so good. Can't swear yet this is ok but it's worth bearing in mind or investigating. The Citroen spec. fluid is available in various unbranded forms and is freely available and fairly cheap - £5 per litre at one shop.

my friends 89 Sovereign is leaking powersteering fluid badly, and i need to know what fluid i can use to refill it firstly, so i can once again drive it, degrease it and chase the leak before determining where its coming from exactly. then i should be able to resolve the leakage issue properly. i have found i can order a "haynes" manual on the car which will help no doubt, but thats on order! thanks for any help given.
how do I add power stearing fluid to my 89 jaguar
