Had the same problem. Overhead console had no display. Took it in and and mechanic said the circuit board had shorted out. Took down console myself and found that a couple of the wires from the ribbon cable to the circuit board had become broken. Cut out broken section and soldered in new wires. Overhead console working fine now. Saved myself over $650.Had the same problem. Overhead console had no display. Took it in and and mechanic said the circuit board had shorted out. I attempted to lower the display after loosening the single screw. Used gentle pressure in a number of directions to drop the display in it's entirety -- had no luck doing that and did not want to force the issue and break something. Does anyone have the magic move to remove the display.

Try unhooking the battery to see if resetting the body computer helps. low batteries and poor connections at the battery can cause weird problems like this

sometimes because of oxidation or cold solder problems those overhead displays cause troubles. they dont show at all or they show wrong info etc. you need to remove it and you need to resolder every soldering point own by own. this can save your unit. i did mine, it worked.
if it displays nothing there is a chance of being at end or its life cycle( i mean the blue colored display itself not the whole unit), if so try to find a replacement on ebay.
I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD. I removed the dash to replace the blend door in the HVAC assembly. I got the blend door replaced and when I put it back together the overhead console and the center electronic information center does not work. I have two black connectors I could not remember where they hooked up at and believe this is the reason why the overhead console and electronic information console are not working. Attached are the 2 connectors. I need to know where they connect to under, around, or behind the dash board. E-mail all responses to [email protected]
The information center located on the overhead console gathers information from several sources. If some of those sources are not providing info then the display won't show it. When you say it is not working you need to see first if it is lit or not, or is it that some data (not all) is not showing?
This is a very common problem with many of the mid 2000 truck and SUV overhead consoles. The console is very prone to internal failure. I offer a reasonable repair service with a lifetime guarantee, check it out: www.autoclockrepair.com There is a bunch of useful info there. Drop me an email if you have questions, thanks!
same problem. I finally solved it by buying a new circuit board with display from a junk yard for $35.00 and replaced it. they let me try it out there before i had to buy it. Works fine now.
Its a matter of taking each component out of the picture(unplug ,if possible) one at a time and replace fuse..But before i did i would pull the fuse box far enough out to check for burnt or pinched wires behind it...Good Luck!!!!
