There are a couple of bulletins from GM on valves causing these codes. # 05-06-01-030D and #PIP3063C are the bulletin #'s you need to have them look at. They are related to the valves in the cylinder head causing your exact symptoms. You should contact another dealer or GM customer assistance with this info. Good Luck
SOURCE: do i drain the transmission fluid before removing
there is not drain, so you just drop the pan and try not to get soaked in fluid, i use a plastic garbage can lid with holes drilled in it to catch the fluid, this is the best way, and yes the solenoid is mounted to the bottom of the valve body inside the transmission, only way to access the part is by removing the trans pan.
SOURCE: Engine gets to a high RPM before it shifts
check all vacuum starting at the pump on these mpodels and see if you are getting around 29" of vacuum. if you are not this is your issue. it sounds like it is doing it mechanically and not assisted. this is a very good way to destroy your transmission. it is very possible that you have a leak somewhere else in the system causing a vacuum leak. i am guessing all your door locks do not work.email me at [email protected]
Trouble Code: P0742
This should be looked at by a trusted transmission shop in your area to address this problem. This sometimes does require the replacement of the torque converter itself.
Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On (4T65-E)
Possible Causes:
TCC PWM solenoid valve for the fluid exhaust is restricted
TCC regulated apply valve is stuck in the TCC apply position
TCC control valve is stuck in the TCC apply position
TCC feed limit valve is stuck (i.e., the TCC feed limit pressure, and the TCC release pressure to be low or nonexistent)
Pressure regulator valve is stuck
TCC fluid circuits leaking or abnormally low/high line pressure
TCC release switch circuit is shorted to ground
