SOURCE: it'2004 aveo 1.6liter THROWING CODES P0700 TRANSMISSION CONTROL

There are a couple of bulletins from GM on valves causing these codes. # 05-06-01-030D and #PIP3063C are the bulletin #'s you need to have them look at. They are related to the valves in the cylinder head causing your exact symptoms. You should contact another dealer or GM customer assistance with this info. Good Luck

SOURCE: do i drain the transmission fluid before removing

there is not drain, so you just drop the pan and try not to get soaked in fluid, i use a plastic garbage can lid with holes drilled in it to catch the fluid, this is the best way, and yes the solenoid is mounted to the bottom of the valve body inside the transmission, only way to access the part is by removing the trans pan.

SOURCE: Engine gets to a high RPM before it shifts

check all vacuum starting at the pump on these mpodels and see if you are getting around 29" of vacuum. if you are not this is your issue. it sounds like it is doing it mechanically and not assisted. this is a very good way to destroy your transmission. it is very possible that you have a leak somewhere else in the system causing a vacuum leak. i am guessing all your door locks do not work.email me at [email protected]

2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It moves when in reverse and low gear. But when it's in drive it just revs up but doesn't move. However, I'm not getting any transmission codes.

Thanks for the information about checking transmission fluid. Unfortunately we don't get Notifications when they are made up there.

I was hoping that @Jeff Armer would take the question. He is a full time auto electronics tech and just the person you need. I am guessing he didn't get a notification either.

The image is difficult to read even zooming in on my computer, but you have multiple communications and voltage errors and guessing the problem one is to the Body Control Module, but you have multiple errors. That means when the computers tell the transmission solenoids to move it doesn't happen. An auto electrician with a professional grade bi-directional scan tool computer can command transmission solenoids to operate and verify that they did. That would be the starting point. This is not something you can fix yourself and Jeff seldom says 'take it to a transmission shop', note that this is not a normal garage, but a place that only does transmissions.

ABS LAST IF BRAKES SEEM OK,
ABS CAN FAIL OF LOTS OF REASONS, AND YOU HAVE NO ABS SCAN TOOL AT ALL I BET.
GET THE ABS SCANNED FULLY THEN FIX IT. <<< do it now.

then you say 3rg gear is missing
well, did it jump 2 to 4th gear
or is 3rd gear FLARE, a false neutral.
the transmission needs to be fully checked out. for sure tranny line pressure (pump) ports in all PNDRL selections as the SM told you.

This is an issue for the dealer. It can be a number of sensors. You will need the dealer to make an accurate assessment of the problem and fix it. I do not recommend tackling this issue on your own.

Po742

Trouble Code: P0742 This should be looked at by a trusted transmission shop in your area to address this problem. This sometimes does require the replacement of the torque converter itself.
