Can you add lube to rear axel in 2006 jeep wrangler x?

Seems to hesitate at top end of 1,2,&3 when cold on manual transmission. actually feels like rear breaks sticking. checked these and seem to be no issues. after drive for about 10 minutes it stops. makes me think that rear end fluid may be low and once warm it lbes up. may also be trans or clutch going to check those also.

Yes on the rear diff. There's a plug on the back of the housing about 2/3rds the way from bottom. Remove that plug and stick your finger in to first knuckle and bend it down to check the fluid level. If you get oil on your finger tip, it's got oil in it. If not, put oil in till it's at the bottom of said hole. Put the plug back in a tighten it and You're done.

SOURCE: 2000 jeep wrangler are sythetic lubes used in axils and trans

Hello grega1967, your Jeep Wrangler came from the factory with gear oil in the axles and manual transmission, but the transfer case uses transmission fluid. It is a NP231 and your axles are Dana 30 in the front and Dana 35 in the rear. They should have a 4.10 gear ratio due to you having a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder.

I hope this helps,

the transmission filler plug is located on the side of the transmission itself, must be done from under neath.suggest you use a suction type gun to get the fluid out of the bottle and into the transmission, if you need further help just get back to me.please rate my fix as i strive for the best. SOURCE: 2001 jeep grand cherokee leaking transmission

clean off entire area near where you suspect the leak is coming from, then look carefully to locate it. Try slightly tightening any bolts near the leak area after it's located If at the pan gasket do not overtighten or you will crush the gasket and it will leak more. Yes, it can be driven as long as you keep it full.

What kind of gear oil is required for my 1992 jeep wrangler 5 speed transmission/transfer case and how many quarts will it require

Transmission generally takes a bit less than two quarts, Use 75/90 gear lube in that (in very cold climates you can add a small amount of automatic trans fluid to keep it flowing on cold starts) Transfer case takes a bit over one quart and takes dextron mercon 3. When filling either, fluid is full when on a level surface it begins to come out of the fill hole while filling. When changing either, always make sure you can open the fill plug before draining so you know you can replace what you removed.

Cold air intake installed... 1999 Wrangler TJ (2.5l 5-speed 4wd). Installed a cold air instake system and throttle body spacer about a week ago. So far it feels like the Jeep runs smoother (less sputter)....

ur putting in more air getting more low end horsepower but when u let in more air the truck is choking back because ur not letting it exhaust as much need to also redo exhaust system so when the truck takes a deep breath[going faster more air in ]it can exhale the same and not have all that back pressure thats why ur loosing the higher end speed the truck can only exhaust a certain amount

Reverse seems to be sticking

Not a good sign. Check your transmission fluid. Make sure that vehicle is running at the same time. thats how you check transmission fluid. if its low, add fluid, check and make sure which kind to add so you dont add wrong kind. if that dont work, then your gonna have to probably end up buying another transmission or having that one rebuilt. feel free to write back
