There are Two temp valve actuators, a mode door actuator and a defrost/floor actuator. Are the heater hoses under the hood getting hot? You can use comment to reply. I hope this helps. Take care.

THe actuator is usually in the vent housing behind the control panel. You can follow the vacuum lines from the a/c-heater control to the actuator.

SOURCE: 2001 cadillac catera ebtcm removal how to

You need to remove the upper rad hose and the battery.
Then, use a torx to remove the 6 screws (hard to get at) which will remove the EBTCM from the brake modulator. You also must disconnect the two electrical connectors (the big one has a slide tab).
There are places you can send the module to and rebuild with warranty. I took a module from a 99' and installed it in my wife's 01'. Now the speedo, odometer, cruise and power steering work perfect and no TCM / ABS light.

SOURCE: where is the thermostate located on a 1998

Hi Friend:

To Locate your thermastat, Open your Hood and look down at the top of your radiator. You'll see a Top Raditor Hose that goes from your radiator to your Thermastat Housing.

You'll see a Hose clamp on the Thermastat housing .

NOTE: before you loosen the Hose Clamp Make sure you your car is cooled down and remove your radiator cap to release any pressure that is in your system.

After the Hose is off you'll see a Domed shaped Housing that is your Thermastat Housing. Remove the Bolts that Hold the Housing on and Seals the Cooling System. From Leaking out of the Housing.

After removing the Housing you'll see your Thermastat .Just remove it and Clean up all old gasket Material so you can replace the gasket with your new one .But put in your new thermastat 1st.

Then make sure you seal the gasket with Gasket Glue. And Replace the Housing Bolts and Tighten up good and Sung.

Put back on your hose then clamp. And Refill your Radiator with Coolant.

This will get your new thermastat in and get you Ready to go .

Thanks for using FixYa Please let me Know how my Solution helped you.By Voting .

Thanks Again From: d_hubbs

Location of heater blend door on 97 catera

Im assuming you dont have heat right ? Well the 1 you will be looking for is on the heater core box behind the radio/next 2 the glove box, but the actuator that controls it is closer 2 the floor on passenger side behind kick panel on right side of radio , I had the same problem last year and could not replace it without taking the dash out so I just disconnected the actuator and tied the door open. This will cause you 2 loose the A/C unless you close the door and mine dont work so it stays open all year

Heat comes out of right side only. Cold air comes out of left side. A/c works fine.

Problem with actuator motor on the blend door inside the heater case. It could be a wiring issue from the programmer to the actuator, but most likely a faulty actuator motor.

I am a owner of a 2000 cadillac catera and my driver and passanger side vents blow only cold air when the heat is on. Please help!

THIS PROBLEM OF NO HEAT IS CAUSED BY A FAILED AC/HEATER AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL BLEND DOOR OR BY THE MOTORIZED ACTUATOR THAT MOVES THAT DOOR, THESE ARE THE ONLY PARTS THAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS COMMON IN LATE MODEL CARS SINCE THE 90'S, THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE DASH MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR TO ACCESS THESE PARTS.
