When vehicle hasn't been running for a few hours and while on a flat spot, the transmission will hesitate before going into gear. It only does it on a flat spot and after sitting a while. If parked on an incline, will shirt fine on first start. Fluids are full...Haven't had vehicle long.
I think you should check the fluid level in the trans since your on a flat spot it sounds like the the pick up tube can't get the fluid in it because the level is low inside so always check on level ground and check it while it's warmed up and engine running in park and I think you'll find the fluid level is low fill it up and park it with card board under it to check for a leak good luck Stephen

SOURCE: engine light is on, fluids are good, no over
Save some money right from the start & run into autozone, Pep boys or other large autoparts chain & get free scan for fault codes, then go from there. That will point everybody in right direction instead of guessing. Come back with codes if it doesn't give an obvious solution to code.

Take your car to Autozone or Oreillys, they will scan it for free and can sell you the parts it needs. It may be a control for the EGR.

Solenoid Pack in the transmission is going out of it. I have put two in mine...both under warranty in my 2000 Explorer
