Should be on brake pedal under dash, could be brake switch is sticking or bad try pulling up on your brake pedal, if tail lights go off that's what it is, if not your switch is staying stuck in.
The brake switch sits in front of the brake pedal. Once u press the brake pedal the pluger is allowed to fully retract from the switch. Try pushing down on the brake pedal then push in on the pluger on the brake switch. You will need to have someone watching the brake lights while you do this. If they go out when u push the pluger then you will need to adjust the switch. If the switch cannot be adjusted then you will need to replace the switch. If the lights stay on then you have a wiring issue.

the fuse box might be located just above the left foot pedal under the steering wheel!
SOURCE: 2005 malibu where is the brake light switch?
There isn't one. This car has a "brake and throttle by wire" system and the brake light switch is inside of that. You have a bad brake position sensor. Figure $240 or so at a dealer.

Just had the same thing happen to our minivan.......went to the Nissan dealer, since the Villager and the Nissan are the same van, and they actually had the parts in stock. Tell them what is wrong and have them pull up the schematic. You need 2 plastic buttons that push in the holes by the brake pedal. It cost about $10 for the 2 of them.
