Power window- won't close!

I've had all 4 windows fail and my driver door window is almost fully open. At this point, I'm just trying to get my window closed, since it's the middle of December. I have removed the door panel but I still can't see how to disengage the window from the regulator or how to have the motor cycle manually- in either case, to allow me to close the wondow.

Remove the motor and then lift the window/regulator by hand. Prop it up with a piece of wood. That is how we do it.

SOURCE: Driver's side window stuck open.

unfortuanately the window has come off the track... happens for various reasons... on my windstar the side rail spot weld broke so the rail/track came off... i had to take the bracket out ... drill out the spot weld and put it back together with a rivet ... put the window back and it's been good since.... basically you will need to take the door panel off to see why it came off the track.

SOURCE: driver's door control panel doesn't work when door is open

Hi my name is Allen!

There is a ground wire that breaks between the door and the body, its inside of the rubber protector. If you peel the rubber from the door side you will find the ground wire broken.

NOTE: do not try to repair the wire at the break, because it will break again because of it bending at that location.

REPAIR: remove the kick panel trim and run a new wire from the inside out to the break, this will repair it for a long time. You must solder and heatshrink the wires together to keep moisture out of the repairs.

SOURCE: RR window on my 02 Lib fell and now that door won't open!

As a last resort, I might try something like that, but remember that the door is heavy and that hanging it from the latch assembly will not do good things to the latch. If you try that, I'd first open the window and tie the door off to the roof rack to keep the door weight off the latch. Likely the latch will not release by removing the hinge bolts, but it may give you more room to get the inside panel removed.

2008 pontiac g6 drivers window, when handle is lifted the window does not drop the inch or so that it should.

The window indexing feature is used to lower the driver and passenger power windows approximately 4 mm when the door is opened. This is necessary to allow the top edge of the window to clear the window weather-strip. This feature will also raise the window to the fully seated position once the door is closed.
Is just the driver door not working ?
Observe the operation of the driver window and front passenger window while opening and closing their respective doors. The windows should index DOWN and UP when the doors are opened and closed.
? If either window does not index UP or DOWN, refer to Window Index Feature Malfunction.

Window Index Feature Malfunction
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw and Door Ajar Switch parameters while opening and closing the driver and passenger doors, the parameter should change from Door Closed to Door Ajar.
? If the parameter does not change when opening and closing the doors, refer to Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction .
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate window motor.
Ignition ON, with the door closed, test for greater than 10 volts between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
? If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
With the door open, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If all circuits test normal, replace the window motor.

Your best bet mite be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop (GM dealer )

Why does the power window button blink on and off and the automatic feature doesn't work in the 2008 Toyota Sienna?

NOTE:
Anytime the batteryterminal has been disconnected, please initialize the driver's door power windowand front passenger's door power windowafter reconnecting the batteryterminal.

With ignition switchin the "ON" position, do the following:

1. Push down and hold the driver's door power windowswitch to completely open the window.
2. Pull and hold up the driver's door power windowswitch until the window closes.

Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes from blinking to a constant illumination.
3. Check for proper operation of the "one-touch open and close" function by fully pushing the switch briefly to the "DOWN" and "UP" positions.

At this time the power window switchfor the passenger's door windowshould be blinking.
4. Push down and hold the passenger's door power windowswitch to completely open the window.
5. Pull and hold up the passenger's door power windowswitch until the window closes.
Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes
from blinking to a constant illumination.
6. Check for proper operation of the "one-touch open and close" function by fully pushing the switch briefly to the "DOWN" and "UP" positions.

This may be as simple as relearning the window stop positions. Perform the following procedure to relearn the windows;

1) Sit in the drivers seat and ensure both doors are fully closed.
2) Turn the key to the ON position but do not start the vehicle.
3) Pull up on the drivers window switch until the window reaches the full up position, then CONTINUE HOLDING THE SWITCH UP for 2-5 seconds, then release the switch.
4) Push down on the drivers window switch until the window fully opens, then CONTINUE HOLDING THE SWITCH DOWN for 2-5 seconds, then release the switch.
5) Repeat steps 1-4 for the passenger window.
6) Close both windows and check the operation of the smart glass.

Try inspecting the wiring harness that runs from the car body to the door. Most common issues are wiring breaks in this section due to constant open and closing of doors.
