Battery light is on a 1998 cavalier. alternator won't charge. has new battery and alternator

Battery won't stay charged, it is brand new battery, alternator has been checked and it is good, blown BTN 60 watt fuse, on 1994 Mazda Protege.

The 60amp fuse probably is in the circuit between the alternator and the battery. Which would be why the battery is not getting charged.
Someone would need to check for a short in the wiring between the alternator and the battery.

The alternator does not charge the battery

Check for a fusible link near starter, alternator or near battery burnt

2004 Pontiac Montana -brand new battery, new alternator(not rebuilt). have to jump start and runs for a while then dies some times wont take charge. battery will die not running in a day. very intermi

First, you can't and shouldn't test an alternator by disconnecting the battery cable while the engine is running. You run the risk of cooking the alternator and the computer. Thats how we used to test generators back in the last century.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ? Is the battery charge warning light on ?
There should be a fuseable link between the alternator and the battery that could keep the alternator from charging the battery.
The ignition module would have no effect on the charging system.

2005 dodge stratus wont keep battery charge

it still could be either your battery or your alternator you'll need a volt ohm meter to check the output of your alternator you should be putting out around 14.5 volts at 1200 rpm. if it dosen't replace it if it dose charge up your battery and see if it holds a charge overnite. it sounds like an alternator issue

My battery dies i replaced a brand new alternator but still dosen't charge tomthe battery

The battery most likely has dead cells and not charging due to the alternator .The alternator is doing what it should, your battery just can't hold the charge the alternator is putting out. Go have the battery tested at a local auto zone or advance auto store. Free to check

I have a 1999 volvo S70 and it recently dosen't always start without jump, do I need a new battery

It my be you you have an old battery. you need to check the battery and the alternator. Take the battery to a Napa or Orileys and they can check it for free. If the battery is good, your charding system may not be charging.
It could also be your starter is worn and requires extra power to turn the engine over. Start with the battery check

Haven't used my 2007 Caravan for a few months and the Battery is dead. I jump start the Battery but it dosen't want to recharge. All the time the engine is on the Instrument panel lights are...

if battery is not holding or getting a charge check this out. jump start car, read voltage at battery posts. if it is charging it will read from 14.2-14.7, if its charging ok and still not enough power to turn it over. then you have a bad battery. check belt to alternator first for tightness. good-day! if battery is charging at battery car off , there should be at least 12.6 volts all accessories off. make sure battery post clamps are clean and tight. what i do is put a bit of grease on the battery clamps to hinder the corrosion build up from acid ,on the posts.

Battery light on brand new battery

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be replaced to resolve the problem.

If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's service life and replacement will be necessary.

You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get the battery light off.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
