An internal combustion engine needs air, fuel, compression, ignition and volumetric eficiency to operate properly and have power. One of these things is missing or at least, not operating as designed.

2011 jeep grand cherokee p0420 loss of power 3.6L motor

P0420 code is catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank one. That means that the computer has detected that a catalytic converter is not functioning properly. This code can be set by a faulty O2 sensor but when it is complemented by a loss of power, it is most likely a clogged catalytic converter. A back pressure test should be performed to verify this. I would suggest taking action as soon as possible because if it is in fact a clogged catalytic converter, that causes components in the engine to overheat and may result in requiring major engine repair

How do i fix this loss of power

Consistent with the AIR PUMP warning code you saw, I am 75% certain that you have at least one clogged catalytic converter. If not a catalytic converter, some other exhaust system obstruction.

Charged battery still have no power at all

Been there recently with a different vehicle= advice is if total power loss look to see if when battery disconnected (negative) and cable touched on post of battery do you get the usual sparks?

If not one side or the other of the battery circuit is not making connection.

If a total loss of everything (I feel as just fixed mine for same) it is EXTREMELY CLOSE to the battery.

Do you have a voltmeter and know how to use? You better read 14 plus volts across the battery and then move out---somewhere very near the battery you have a physical open===usually this is where the positive cable goes from the battery to===look for a swollen cable somewhere off the positive lead---it can puff up and actually break inside---I know what you feel like---big surprise for me when stopped and went to leave and nothing, no lights inside or out and no click===like someone had removed the battery.

Look also for real badly corroaded cables or posts on the battery---it has to be very close to the battery.

Loss of power

Loss of power after running for a while can be caused by anything from a partially clogged catalytic converter to engine overheating due to a faulty engine cooling system. Lots of other things can cause it as well.

Car has loss of power and the check engine light blinks

The check engine light will blink if there is a serious problem that could damage the catalytic converter. The loss of power could be multiple things such as a misfire or maybe even a catalytic converter that has failed and is clogging the exhaust. Have it scanned to see what the codes are and go from there.

Engine will not turn over. No electrical power anywhere. Battery is good.Checked all fuses.

sounds like a ground or positive cable loss connection , start at battery and hook jumper cables to the - neg batt post and to the body or frame. grab + positive cable and check all connections at battery down to starter.

Power loss after running

loss of power can happen even if exhaust does not flow in other words you have a rstriction in the exhaust usualy the catalytic converter has collapsed any exhaust shop will be able to tell you right away, or when you loose power do you hear a hissing noise ? if so that is clearly a clogged converter replace the catalytic converter
