Follow up question for 2000 Saturn Blower Motor Issue

Ginko,
Thank you much for the respones. I haven't been able to find a "thermic switch". Does this switch go by another name as well? Also, where would the switch be located. Here is the text of the issue and your response.

THANKS!

PHBalanced

Blower motor does not work on any setting. Blower motor works fine directly connected to battery or in another Saturn. Blower resistor impedences test good. With blower connector disconnected and blower switch on, 12V is at the blower connector; but connect to the blower and nothing happens; back probe shows 0V. Also, it may or may not be pertinent but disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and reconnecting, then waiting about 10 minutes resulted in the blower working for a couple of days, then the same failure. Replaced blower relay and verified fuses good. Help is appreciated. Solution #1 posted on Oct 02, 2008

The blower motor is connected to a termic switch, when the motor is fine and fuse is ok, is the switch that must be replaced.

Ensure the fuse is ok first.

Comment by ginko, posted on Oct 02, 2008 If you fixed already and works again disconnecting the battery it can be the switch, or also the blower motor resistor that is located in one of the air ducts.
Locate part here.
Once you locate the resistor, test it for continuity and eventually replace it.

The thermistor is in the winding of the blower motor. Letting it cool down will let it run, but probably not long. the thermistor is not replaceable, replace blower motor

SOURCE: ABS Light on 98 Volvo V70

Your car had been designed to work with ABS brakes, if ABS is not working brakes performance can be badly affected, particularly at high speed.
To keep the vehicle safety to standards the ABS should be inspected. At a qualified garage they can connect to ABS system, get an error code in return and diagnose the problem.
Check relays first.

SOURCE: Intermittent blower motor failure

A broken/burned motor winding will do exactly this. If you measure it when cold it will look good. The broken/burned winding will only open from heat expansion.

1997 Saturn SL2: Where is the location of the cabin fan relay?

This system does NOT use a blower motor relay. Power flows from the IGN switch to the fan speed switch. Then from the switch to the resistor. Then to the blower motor and to ground #G206.

With the key in RUN, disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor. Use your volt meter to check for voltage on the purple wire. If you're not getting power and the blower motor fuse is good, then you've got a wiring issue between the motor and the IGN switch. Check for power on the orange wire at the fan speed switch. That power is coming from the IGN switch. If not power, check for power right at the IGN switch on the orange wire. If no power there, you've got a bad IGN switch. If you're getting power, check for good ground on the grey wire. If not ground, clean the ground connection.

I cant find the blower motor resistor in my saturn lw2 2000

The blower motor resistor is located in the passenger front footwell. It is in the HVAC case very close the bulkhead. It has an elongated oval connector with 4 or 5 wires going to it. The resistor itself resembles a circuit board, not the typical blower resistor.

2000 l series saturn blower stopped

Could be the fan switch, the resistor, or the blower motor. A mechanic would check for voltage at each point, plus ground at the motor.

Stoped to get gas when I started my 2000 saturn ls I noticed the blower was not working on any speed checked the relay and fuze both were good now what do I do?

If your relay and fuse are okay, and you blower will not run at any switch speed, there could be an issue with the brushes and commutator of the blower motor. Once I had a small leaf go in between one brush and the commutator and it kept my blower from running. once I removed it, it ran fine. My blower was located on the passenger side under the glovebox. It required removal of about a dozen fasteners and it took about an hour to disassemble, diagnose and return to working order.

I have a 2000 Saturn LW2 V6 3.0. My heater quit working 2 years ago so I did my hw and found it to be the blower motor resistor. Well, the heater quit again with the same symptoms as...

With the vehicle running and the blower switch set to high and the blower motor not working tap the bottom of the blower motor with the handle end of a screwdriver. If the blower starts to work it is bad. Usually the brushes are worn out and tapping the blower wiggles them just enough to make contact with the commutator and the blower will work.

2001 Saturn L200 blower motor does not work in highest switch position. Move switch down to next lowest position and it works normally. This is in AC mode.

Blower motor resistor. Located next to/ near the blower motor itself. These are common failures for no high speed blower operation.
