BRAKE JAM REAR WHEEL NOT TURNING

Hi Well that depends weather you have a drum brake car or a disk brake rear brake car , most early cars had cable to rear brakes and some have rod ,but either should hold on the 3click of hand brake and to park max 5.
Rear brakes with drums could be either worn out linings or oil seals leaking oil onto the brakes and the same with the disk brakes but you may not see the problem untill you remove the drums.

your rear brakes are worn or the self adjusters are rusted, assuming you have drum rear brakes & not disc pads in the rear.
Try backing up several times with very hard stops to activate the self adjusters. If you don't back up much, the self adjusters can not work. Parking brake will be adjusted at the same time.

if it's drum brake, remove the drum and check for dust collected inside the drum. also check the emergency brake cables for free of rust and are not binding

The exact same thing happened to my 2004 Aveo on the same side. I had it towed to the mechanics and they informed me that GM glues the shoes to the pads and when they seperate they jam up and that locks your wheel. I had to get new brakes on the back so I just did the entire car in case they were all like that. Hope this helps.

The RDM or Rear Differential Module on these GM vehicles (Vue, Torrent, Equinox) is a known weak point. It is most likely shot as the trans outputs power to the front and rear equally; gearotor pump(s) in the RDM then assign traction to each rear wheel if the wheel is turning slower than the input. So if it is still turning it must not be transmitting that torque to either "braked" rear wheel... There was a recall for the RDM in which GM quietly increased the slippage at which it engauged the rear wheels due to high failure rates...

Hi, check wheel for bad/leaking brake wheel cylinder. An easy way to do this without removing wheel is to look at the outside of the drum from the backside for any brake fluid. If the backside of the drum looks wet, replace wheel cylinder. If it looks dry, remove tire and drum to inspect wheel cylinder for any brake fluid. If rubber boots on end of wheel cylinder appears to be dry, adjust rear brake turning adjusting screw (long bar on bottom with a "star" in center), replace drum, if you cannot put the drum back on easily, back up the screw you turned until the drum goes on easily but without too much slack, start car, apply brake, check drum to see if it can come off easily, if not, repeat until drum is snug, but not tight.
New rear wheel cylinder part avg.: $25-$35 ea.

Jack up rear of car till tire is off the ground.
Remove lug nuts & remove wheel.
Remove phillips screw(s) from drum.
Using a hammer, strike the drum to loosen it from the hub.
Remove drum by simutaneously turning it and pulling it outward away from the vehicle.

Wheel bearing or brake is malfunctioning. Take off the wheel and inspect brake assembly for proper movement to rule it out.

Take your truck to a brake shop and have them look at your emergency brake at the wheel. This should be free. Something may be cause it to engage and jam the wheel. If this is any help please list it as helpful or fixya. Thank you

sounds like you have over adjusted the brake shoes, they are very tricky to get the balance just right and after a drive they expand from the heat. so remove the rear wheel & back off the adjustment a few turns then go for a drive to get some heat into them. jack car up and check by turning wheel with your hands, it should move freely, there will be a little resistance from turning the diff. hope this helps.
