Interesting. Which car has an unbalanced tire warning light? A problem with the wheel speed sensor will trigger several warning lights. When you turned the engine off to check your fuel cap, the sensor reset and lights went out. As you keep driving the sensor will trigger the alerts again.
You need to get the fault codes read because of the red check engine light coming on. Do you have an OBDII reader? or does a friend have one? If not ... I would take it back to where you got it serviced.
The piece of data that could be helpful is the check engine light going on after refueling. If you are lucky ... you may have not 100% screwed the fuel cap back on with the final clicking. That can cause the check engine light to go on. It is curious though that your tire and VSC lights went on ... there may be something electrical going haywire.
Hi, the Check Engine light and the cruise light blinking tells you the computer found a problem with your vehicle's running condition but if the vehicle is driving OK, a Check Engine light is not a reason to pull over and get the problem fixed soon.
In testing areas, you will fail your emissions test if the Check Engine light is on and fuel economy generally suffers when the Check Engine light is on.
When the Check Engine light is on, one or more "trouble code(s)" are stored in the computer and you can read and erase trouble codes using inexpensive code-reader tools from auto-parts stores; the tools are very easy to use.
The problems identified by the codes are frequently easy to fix (such as a loose gas cap), but some are complex, requiring professional diagnosis.
A trouble code indicates a circuit where the problem was identified, not necessarily the component itself. Diagnosis is often necessary.
You could have picked up some bad gas, but it's more likely that your gas cap is not sealed all the way - a common problem. Tighten the cap - if it's the problem the car will start running smoothly almost immediately and the check engine light will reset itself in a day or two.
It's hard to said what it is without a VSA code, but the VSA system monitor the rotation of you tires. Check and make sure you have the same tire size for all four tires. If the tires are not spinning at the same ratio could cause the VSA light to come. It could be a bad sensor or even the VSA modulator itself. It's hard to said. Good luck
Why was a timing belt/water pump service done @ 43K miles??? This is die at 90K miles!! As for the check engine light, they must have disconnected or damaged something. In order to figure out the chk engine light, you must have the computer scanned for the error code(autozone does this for free). Post the code on fixya. Bring the vehicle back for all these issues and demand them to fix it as this wasnt an issue prior!!
Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Without knowing the actual 'code' (the reason for the light being on), it is hard to state with any accuracy.
However...we see quite a bit, here in my shop, Highlanders with the Check Engine light on, right after an oil change. Often, whoever changes the oil sometimes checks the air filter, and, when they open the filter box, they knock off a vacuum hose going to the air filter box. This could be your problem.
Go out to the vehicle, pop the hood, and check the black box that holds the air filter, on the passenger side front of the engine compartment; look to see if a black rubber hose is not connected. If it is off, reconnect it and drive the vehicle 10 miles, shut it off, and drive another 10 miles. This may extinguish the light.
I hope that this info helps you out. Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
I would take it back to the dealer and tell them the check engine light came on not long after oil change. Have them run the code on their dime...it's a reasonable request!
A loose gas cap will defintely trigger the engine light, but in most cases, it will reset itself within one week. Some cars don't have a reset which forces you to have a mechanic reset it for you.
