2002 Accent Fuel Pump problems

When I turned my key on, I could hear the slight hum of the fuel pump sending it's initial burst of fuel. On several occasions, this familiar hum was not present until I had turned the key on several times. Finally one day I didn't hear that hum at all. I changed the fuel pump relay, replaced the fuel pump, and I still don't hear that initial hum when I turn the key on and the car won't start because it isn't getting fuel. What else can I check/replace to get my baby running again?

I think that the 2002 accents still have a external fuel pump i would change that but to be shue it is a fuel problem remove the fuel line from the fuel rail and cycle the key on and off checking to see that there is no fuel spurting out of the line. New fuel pumps aer extremly quiet

Why won't my car start?

try getting in a position to kick the fuel tank, as the fuel pump as someone turns the key in PARK as the fuel pump may be stuck, if that fails, troubleshoot the ignition. if kicking jars it to pump, check wiring or replace fuel pump.

For about a week i had to turn key off and on several times in order to start. leaning towards fuel pump; hear clicks no hum when i turn key on, checked shut off and it is not tripped; hear click comi

That's it, that's the definitive answer-it clicks in the tank? The pump is bad, and will need replacing. It should turn on for about 2 seconds to pressurize the fuel line and system with key on-that is the hum you refer to.

How do u prime a fuel pump

If you're referring to a fuel injected gasoline vehicle, self prime takes place at key start. If you still feel the need to have the computer repeat this process (or re- self prime), turn the key all the way until the dash lights come on, then turn off. Repeat this 5 times then attempt to start. If all the windows are closed and the radio is off, when you turn key on with engine off, you'll hear the fuel pump at the rear of vehicle buzz or hum as it's priming the system.

I have a Mercedes 2003 C230. Checked my Fuel line, Fire to Ignition, and Change Camshaft Position Sensors. Car Cranks but still does not start. What else should I look at?

Turn the key and listen for a hum (keep doors closed but a window down and radio off). Don't turn the key all the way to try to crank it, just the turn to get all the lights in the dash on. If you hear a slight hum or buzz that last a second or two that is your fuel pump. If you don't hear it, check your fuse for the fuel pump, if that is not blown, your fuel pump may have gone out.

The car has been seemingly acting as if it is out of gas. I think its the fuel filter. But today it cut off all together. It will still turn over but will not crank. She my daughter said it also smoked a...

more than likely a clogged fuel filter[hopefully] if not that lets try this before you do anything.turn your key to the 'on' position can you hear a slight hum coming from the fuel pump in the gas tank under the rear of your car. it may take 2 people. one to turn the key on and one to listen at the rear of the car.try this several times to see if you hear the hum. if you hear the hum,the fuel pumps working. and then you know it's most likely a clogged fuel filter.if no hum heard,go under your hood to the main engine fuse box[black box] take the cover off of it. on the underside of lid, look for fuel pump relay, replace that relay with new one.if it's a fuse, replace the fuse. if this does'nt repair your problem, the fuel pump has went bad and in need of replacement.the pump is located inside the gas tank. the gas tank will have to come down and out in order to replace the bad fuel pump.try these solutions to see if they help,if you need further assistance, please repost your question to fixya.com and thank you for choosing fixya.com wish you the very best of luck!

Can not get it to start have sprayed starter fluid and it will start up then stop running could it be the modular?

Sounds like a fuel pump problem. I'd check the fuse and relay for the pump, also check the fuel filter. Cycle the key and see if you can hear the pump come on.

No fuel to injectors

may be the fuel sending unit or a blown fuse low battery a clogged fuel-bar a series of tests will determine what the issue is.. first make sure the key is in the on position check with a test light both the top and bottom of the fuse for connection the test light will light up ...turn on the key do you hear a slight humming sound this will be the fuel pump pushing the gas up to the fuel bar ...if so the fuel bar may be clogged and need cleaning or replacing or even the fuel filter may be clogged .if no sound is heard then after checking the fuses and ensuring they are good and properly seated into position and the battery is good as well...the fuel filter may also be in need of replacement there is a cap at the fuel bar unscrew it and with a cloth shielding your eyes etc use a pen and depress the valve to see if with the key on if and gasoline disburses from it if not then the issue is between what you hear and how far the gas travels it may hum and stop at the fuel filter { replace it >...also check to ensure of no gas on the floor etc.
