You'll need to have charging circuit checked, starting with alternator output. Beforehand, be sure to check belt condition and tension for alternator.
Is there a way to do that myself? It won't start and I don't have the money to have it towed. I charged the battery for about 20 min and that didnt work also took starter out to have checked and it was fine
Give the battery a full charge first. Then try to start, but before you do, take a multimeter and record voltage at battery before starting. Then after starting, do the same and record the difference as you let it run, put headlights on, turn heater on for example, and watch voltage ( meter) as they are turned on to see if the load draws battery voltage down. Try revving engine slightly while watching voltage reading as well. If the alternator circuit is working properly, the voltage shouldn't continue to drop down below 12 volts. With engine running and revving a bit, the voltage should increase. Let me know what happens.
