I bought my son a 1995 Nissan PU about 3 years ago....from my sister. Ever since I have had it, the brake and tail lights come and go at their leisure. I was told I need to replace the "pigtails". Well, I can't afford that just yet. He got a ticket Friday night for a tail being out after we had the truck checked that day for the Fall special with Expert tire. They said the Tail lights were working. So, I got the tail light back on myself. So, right now both tail lights are working and the brake lights....except....when you turn the tail lights on...on the one side..the brake light doesn't work when the tail light is on. I am going to play around with it tomorrow but why would they both work but not at the same time? I don't get that.

Check the ground for your rear lights. It's probably one single ground for all the rear lights, though I don't know that for sure. If it's not a grounding issue, it must be a loose power connection.

I have no tail lights when i turn on my head lights

check your tail light fuse, or blown bulbs. Just do a small test before you strip. Put someone in car turn ignition on and just apply brakes, if the brake lights come on means you have tail lights bulbs blown . If you have no lights at all go again for bulbs or fuse.

My 1995 taillights stoped working but when i push on the brakes brake lights and turning signal lights come on at the same time no turninmg signal flashers will work replace the fuze was not the problem...

Hi, you might want to look at the earth connection at both tail lights. If the earth connection is faulty the other lights earth through the other circuits connected to the tail lights which will cause the brake lights and turning signal lights to come on at the same time. If the earth connections are fine it might be that you have a short circuit on one of the circuits going to the tail lights.

My tail lights will not turn off.

Tail lights or brake lights? If it is the brake lights the brake light switch is stuck shut. Replace it. If it is tail lights, then possibly the light switch is defective.
