Hi Christy,

The first thing I would do is to look under the seat with a flashlight and see if there are any dammaged wires. This is the most common cause of seat failures. Things get stuffed under the seats, then the wiring gets dammaged when the seats are moved back and forth.

Other than that, all I know to tell you is that you must diagnose the circit that runs the motor that moves the seat forward and back. It could be the switch, the wiring, or the motor itself.

Seat will move up and down but not forward and

There are cables that run the seat up down forward and back. It sounds like the cable has broke for the foward or back adjustment. They are hard to get to I know unless the seat is removed to check

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. My drivers side front power seat does Not stay adjusted. Every time I turn the ignition on the seat moves backward and the back lays down.

The limited edition brings memory setting for mirrors and seats, it recognizes which key are you putting in the ignition and puts the saved setting accordingly to that driver's key. That is the reason your seat keeps moving. You need to reprogram the seat position for that key. Good luck

Jeep GC seat will not move

I would check the switch first which is cheap to replace. you cant really test it but just to replace it. If the switch is good more likely you will have to replace the the motor, if it faulty the seat will not move forward or backward. it not hard to replace if you can remove the seat.

How do i put my backseat down on my 1999 jeep cherokee?

first, you have to lift up the seat it self, and tilt it forward towards the front seat using the loop handle. (the back of the seat goes from 3:00 up to 12:00)
then pull the lever on the top of the seat-back (near the head rest) and move it from 12:00 to 9:00.

Power seat issue

Get out your voltmeter, unplug the connection to the seat's motor, underneath the seat, and hit the switch. if youve got power going to the motor then youll need to replace the motor. If not, it's probably the switch. Also make sure the wires are not cut or damaged somewhere between the switch and the seat.

I just purchased a 2007 jeep liberty sport

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty and the smae lever that tilts the seat also moves it forward and back. Press forward or back on the switch. Also check for blown fuse or a loose wiring connector under the drivers seat. Good luck, Techjoel

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Power Seat Problem

Replacement parts and labor could run $200 + from the dealer.. Yes, a replacement switch can be obtained from a salvage yard, BUT NOT from an auto parts store. It is not difficult to remove old switch and replace
