BULBS ARE GOOD REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH STILL NO LIGHTS DRIVING LIGHTS WORK

same problem here. Apparently a few people on this site are having same problem.

Turn signals work, reverse lights, but no brake lights.

    I replaced:

    Brake pedal switch

    all bulbs

    fuses all ok

    tail light assemblies

still no brake lights, then my headlights went out too, 2 days later. I will try the relays as you suggested. If anyone else has any other possibility, please post! thank you!

I have the same problem. My lights all work if the wheel is tilted all the way up. once I come down 3 notches the drivers side read brake and turn signals do not work.

I suspect that it is a problem in the multifunction switch contained within the steering column.

I'm still working on this problem.

    The turn signals do work.

    Running lights work.

    Reverse Lights work.

    License plate lights work.

This all started with my license plate lights going out. Then my brake lights went out. Then my headlights went out.

Just replaced the License plate lights. I had replaced the Brake light bulbs, even the Brake light assembly. I replaced the Headlight switch, now the headlights work again. Just installed a new battery too.

My center high mount stop light (top of cab), had all the bulbs burnt out. I bought all new bulbs, installed but still no brake lights. Even the cargo lights on the same assembly don't work.

There IS power going to the plug there, but nothing from the brake switch.

I now have a schematic that shows there is a Relay that powers the High Mount Brake Light. I've seen on another forum that this Relay is either located in the Engine Compartment on the firewall, or in the glovebox. I only have a Fuel Pump Relay in the Engine Compartment, so I took apart the glovebox and there were 4 Relays there. As I jumped from 30 to 87 on each Relay, it turned on the Load Component. All 4 were for the AC system. No other Relays in that area.

Someone stated the Relay could be located on the left side of steering wheel on the side of the dash but no such luck.

Below the fuse panel I found the Horn Relay and the Starter Relay.

I read on another forum the problem was the ground for the High Mount Stop light Relay. It also said that the ground comes from the block and I checked the ground, on the back of the engine block and it's good.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I figured out my problem!
From the VERY BEGINING... I changed my brake pedal switch with a BRAND NEW switch, and the lights still didn't work.

Well, I went back down there with a live wire and touched the contacts..and guess what.. the brake lights lit up!

I got a faulty NEW brake pedal switch!! I went a year with this problem, so learn from my issue, test even your new parts if it doesn't fix the problem to completely rule it out!

I hope you guys figure out what's going on with your issue.

I have/had the same problem recently. I found out that if I tilt my steering wheel up or down my brake lights quit working. I haven't finished tracing the problem yet but I do know it is some how connected to the tilt steering. Try starting with your steering wheel tilted all the way up and holding your brake pedal down. Then slowly adjust the wheel down one click at a time and see if the lights come on. I'm interested to see if this works for anyone else. And no this is not a joke, I'm serious.

I don't know if it is the time of year (lots of condensation) or it's just happens alot but my mantra appears to have become check the relays. I suspect the brake light relay would be in the engine compartment fuse panel but on yours it may be in the fuse panel under your dash or in the glove compartment.... car companys seem to like hiding them.

96 chevy silverado, taillights just stopped working... nothing to cause this effect. they worked the night before. they just stopped. b/u brake hazards and turn signals all work. checked all fuses in the...

The turn signal switch in the steering column has a short in some models. Have someone watch your brake lights and move the 4 way flasher on top of the column from left to right without deploying the switch for the 4 ways. If your brake lights flash ,the harness needs to be replaced if they are still available. Harness around 300.00 plus labor.

There will be an electronic flasher module located under your dash near the steering column (don't know it's exactly location as it varies). It sounds like this unit may be faulty.

I have a chevy s 10 brake lights don't work

Brake light relay is bad. It is the third solenoid from the left on top of firewall under hood. If this is bad, the third (cab top) brake will still work fine, but no rear brake lights!

Checked all fuses-good, swapped bulbs-good, hazard lights-good, head lights good, turn signals-good but no brake lights. 1995 chevy silverado

Does the turn signals or hazards work in the rear?? Yes... it may be the brake switch or the turn signal switch (power goes from battery, to the brake switch then to the turn signal switch, then to the lights. No? .. again.. possibly turn signal switch or the wiring between cab and bed.

My third brake light dosen't work on my chevy s10 94'

I had a similar problem with my 1994 S-10 LS extended cab. Both tail brake lights worked fine. I removed the 3rd brake light cover and tested for voltage at the steel center of the two rivets and found the positive (driver side) negative (passenger side) were good. I checked the two metal strips that send power to bulbs and found the positive side was open. Seems the flared side of the rivet was not making contact with the metal strip. I bucked the rivet with a punch and hammer and it took care of the problem.
