look up in the corner of the visor where it mounts.. usually there is a small screw there .. raise the visor up in place and tighten the screw..it should stay up..if not ..use a bit of velcro on the visor and the headliner above it..cheap fix but it works..also invest in a windshield cover they are only a few bucks and work for other uses also.. they make a great emergency mat if you need to look under the car on naty ground(rain, snow, mud, etc)
First, is it out of warranty? If so, check to see if it is seated correctly in the recess by the mirror. Then make sure it is seated on the rod that it pivots on. If those obvious things are ok then remove the mounting end of visor where it is attached to the headliner cose to the door and make certain that it all looks good where it attachs to the rod that it pivots on. If no luck there take it off and go to to toyota and play the role of the what? no recall? Then start looking at ebay for a replacement.
If it will not stay in position, probably the only solution is to replace the whole visor (just make sure it comes with the little part that bolts to the roof). You may have to go to the dealer for the part.
My 2007 Optima Driver's Side visor also had the same problem. I removed it with the screws under the plate at the base of the visor. Upon further inspection, the plastic inside the "hinge" had shattered inside the plastic sleeve. I am currently attempting some at-home super-glue-and-epoxy repair. If this works, I've saved myself a couple hundred bucks in repairs.
inside the sun visor there is a spring which is moving to side when you push down the spring pushes side so it will keep down when you want to push to the normal possition spring releces and keep to that possition any way i would like to advice you to replace sun visor.
