Engine Off, Key to Run position, depress and release gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
Only do this after changing the oil. Don't worry so much about 3,000
miles, the silverado will calculate when to change your oil next based
on miles and driving conditions. -This only works if you only reset the
oil light soon after changing the oil.

The "Change Oil" message displayed on your Chevrolet Silverado's gauge cluster is part of the Oil Life Monitoring System, standard on many GM (General Motors) vehicles. The message appears when it's time for an oil-change; the interval is based on your driving habits (for example, it may appear more frequently if you engage in a lot of stop-and-go traffic). Once you change your Chevy's oil, the message will not disappear; the system must be reset. The process is a bit different between Chevy Silverado models.

I had the same problem, lens can not be re-insered, you have to buy a whole new assembly. About $125.00 each, they changed the adhesive on the replacement lens.
