I just had that happen on a 2000. It was the window regulator. I ordered a new one on e-bay. Changing it involves taking the whole door apart, and you can do it yourself, if you are really "mechanical". You would need to pay particular attention to where every nut & bolt goes, and replace exactly. The window regulator is made of several metal pieces and some connecting wires or cables. It is complicated if you are not familiar with it. You will be needing to take the glass out of the door by rotating it, so you can install the new regulator. Be blessed.
