2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS New Cars Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 02, 2018

My 07 equinox was running just fine, went to lunch for 30 mins and came out and it's dead. The lights and radio are still working. When I turn the key over it only makes a clicking noise and a "service stabilitrak" light comes on. The car has never been jumped. Is this a fuse or battery issue?

First have the battery tested, it is a free service of any auto parts store like Autozone and others.

SOURCE: my stabilitrak and abs light come on in my 2007

YOu need to take it to a shop immediately the stabilitrax and the abs indicators has to do with your car being stabilized and the abs has something to do with your brakes. Hope this helps!?

Please rate solution - Thanks.

SOURCE: battery problem on 2007 Chevrolet

It sounds like your alternator may be bad. Most chain auto parts stores will check your charging system for free.

If you get an ABS (anti lock brake system) light on as well, you probably have a bad front wheel bearing (the ABS wheel speed sensor is built-in). Check the harnesses going to the sensors first, they may be damaged from turning. If no ABS light accompanying the Stabilitrak message, then you will need to get it scanned for a diagnostic code to further evaluate.

2006 Ford focus zx4 St..replaces the alternator last night car ran fine all day I came home for lunch and then I went to leave to go back to work about 35 min later and the car would not start wouldn't...

Make sure battery has a full charge. With everything off, use digital multimeter leads across battery posts, the generic spec is around 12.6 volts. Leave the leads hooked up, have helper turn key to crank, what is the reading? If the circuit is closed to the starter, shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts, some makes and models, it shouldn't drop below 10 volts. You get the picture, if drops way low, that won't work.
I'd have to check generator output and battery.

No Bus 08 dodge avenger..windows,radio,heater...etc..no start..disconnect battery..now its running again

Just bought a 2013 dodge avenger, literally yesterday. Test drove fine twice,, drove all over town for license and registration, multiple erands. No problems. I got to work and went to leave for lunch and was introduced to the no bus code. Left me stranded the very day i purchased it,, only 25000 miles. Is this problem simple enough to weather or is this the brightest red flag to take it back?

Had same problem, went to work everything was fine, then got in vehicle getting ready for lunch......no power steering and service stabilitrak light came on. End result was power steering motor needed replaced. Motor controls the power to the rear wheels along with the power steering.

1990 oldsmobile 88 no crank, no start. lights & radio work fine. eventually after 30- 40 min it will turn over & start. problem just started in cold weather i.e. below 20 degrees -coincidence???

Have the battery tested at the local auto parts dealer. you may have a dead cell. the radio and lights will work fine because they do not require that much voltage. The colder it is the harder it is on the battery and the more juice the process will require. At the same time the battery will have less to offer the colder it gets. If one of the cells is dead you are not going to have enough power to turn that frozen engine over.

My 97 chevy cavalier will not start.

clean battery terminals, then use voltmeter set it on dc 10amp an groung the black then while car is running touch the red probe to the main wire (large wire) in back of alternator it should read 14 volts if not replace alternator also have battery checked at a part store. If all of that is good replace starter.

Is it my battery?

well this is what you should try ,,jump the car get it running
then when its warmed up take the positive lead of the battery
if the car stops the alternator is gone (thats what charges the battery) if the car runs its fine

and if u have put another new battery in it and the alternator is fine look for any broken wires earths or positives that could be making it drain so quick
and make sure your battery levels are full
hope this helps
