My 1999 GMC Jimmy's ABS light comes on and off and then the car makes a humming sound. When I press the brakes the car begins to stop, but then the pedal drops to the floor and the car keeps going. I recently changed my front brakes and a rear brakeline that was leaking; However, when I check the brake oil level on the car it seems to be fine. Can the caliper or master cylinder be going out?

Make sure your your wheel speed sensors have good connections at the wheel since you just did work there. You may need to bleed the brakes again for the other problem.

SOURCE: the brake light on the

There is a level switch in the master cylinder if the fluid level is low it will turn on the light and If you pressure or vacuum bleed the brakes you will center the proporting valve switch that warns of low brake pressure in either Front or rear.
Vacuum bleeding I have found to work the best.
Make sure the Park brake lever is all the way released. If you find this informationn helpful please leave me a favorable rating and by all means contact me if I can be of any further help.

SOURCE: Anti-lock brakes come on just before I stop.

It might be a ALB sensor. Did you check to see if the sensor is operational? Its the cheapest place to check.

SOURCE: no brake pressure

There IS one place it can still leak. behind the brake master cyl - into (inside) the power brake vaccum booster, although that doesn't seem the problem. You first need to make sure your master cyl is bench bled. with a hose bleeder kit, you can bench bleed in-car. you should be able to bleed sys through abs sys with no problem. Sounds like the master cyl needs to be re-bled.

SOURCE: bad brakes on gmc suburban,

Gravity bleed your brakes starting at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. No pweddle pumping. I Fill M/C and leave cover off. Then open the bleeder and watch what is coming out. Uou can see bubbles. When the fluid drips steady and without bubbles, cole and do the same to the other three. Don't let the master cykinder get low because thr fluid level helps move the fluid and air through the lines.Periodically tap the break lone with your wrench to keep everything moving.. When sll bleeders drip clean and steady. Make sore your rear brakes are adjusted to barely touch the drum. Then top off the master cylinder, cap it and give yourself a "break". :)

Abs and brake lights on

Thats a big possibility. The abs light is on telling the driver the abs system is disabled. And the regular brake light could be on because the parking brake is not released.

have the abs module checked for codes to find out what the problem is.when the system detects a fault in the system it turns on the abs light and check the e-brake to make sure its all the way off.the humming noise sounds like its coming from the abs hydraulic unit that`s not shutting off.

There are ABS wheel speed sensors on the front wheels behind the hubs. It is possible if the hub where replaced either the pick up ring mounted to the hub itself was not installed or might have purchase non abs hubs or they just did not switch the wheel speed pickup ring on the new hub. Another thing could be either the wheel speed sensors are mis adjusted or when they replaced the hubs they hung the spindle by the abs wire and either pulled it out of socket or messed up the wires internally. Here is a basic abs system http://www.ehow.com/how_8511860_diagnose-abs-brakes.html if you have any other questions please let me know. Also please leave good feedback.

ABS Light comes on intermittently

You need to have your abs brakes looked at. There is either a problem with the brakes themselves or the sensor that is turning the light on. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

the problem your having is most definatly abs. The speed rings on the hub at times can get a hair line crack, this causes intermitten issues like your discussing. Since you noted right pull? Thats the ring i would have checked first

Why wont my ABS light on the dash wont turn off even after I changed the brakes?

the ABS light doesn't come on because u need a brake job, it comes on when it senses a failed part like a wheel speed sensor, in order to determine exactly what part is keeping the light on and disabling the Antilock Brakes you will need a shop to scan the systems comuter for fault codes

Abs system

it is a failed wheel bearing.the hub and bearing comes with an abs sensor and when the bearing could not be located by the sensor it will turn on the abs light and make the car skip when braking.check to see if your not missing any brake fluid and that the truck is still able to brake.if all is good then change the faulty wheel bearing.if you dont want to invest right away just disconnect the connector for the abs to the bearing.braking will feel normal and youll just have the abs light on.

1996 GMC Jimmy Stopping Problems

sounds like your abs isnt working right. The pulling to the right could be the alignment out, brake pads more worn out on one side then the other or a rotor grabbing better than the other. If I was you I would get the alignment checked along with replacing brake pads and rotors and maybe disconnecting the abs, thats what I did to mine and have no problems anymore.
