THIRD BRAKE / CARGO LIGHT

I AM TRYING TO HOOK UP THIS LIGHT ON A 92 SILVERADO.  IT AND THE SWITCH WERE SALVAGED FROM A WRECK.  BOTH CAME CUT AWAY FROM THE HARNESS.  THE LIGHT HAS 2 WHITE WIRES, A BLACK AND A GRAY.  THE SWITCH HAS ORANGE, BLUE/WHITE STRIPE, GRAY AND BLACK.  I KNOW THE BASICS ONLY ON  AUTO ELECTRIC, BUT EVEN MY BEST HOW TO BOOK ISN'T HELPING .  I GET LIGHTS, JUST NOT THE PROPER WAY.

I assume you only want lights, brake lights and signals. Your best bet is to plug a wire onto your truck... the flat plug, and turn , first the left signal, on. Use a test light to see which part of the plug in is flashing. Once you have established that, just keep plugging the other end of the wire into the trailer plug, until you get the left turn signal flashing on the trailer. Then repeat the process for lights etc.
You can also take the plug-in apart on the trailer. Inside the plug in it will have l/t, r/t, s, etc. (left turn, right turn, stop, etc.) There will be a very small arrow pointing to the terminal connection that is for each.

Testimonial: "Thanks, that should be an easy and sure way."

My left side controls aren't working on my 2001 Chevy Silverado

Could be as simple as the switches in the steering wheel or more complicated as a ground in the clock spring connections.

95 gmc c1500 third brake lite works but cargo won't

The cargo light will only work if the lights in the cab are on. Turn them on then flip the switch for the cargo light and it should come on, if not then it is probably an electrical problem.

I have a 2004 silverado. My cargo light isn't getting any power. My third light works fine and when i reverse the harness the cargo lights work. I'm assuming its in the wiring. Do the two wir

There should be 12 volts on the orange wire at the bulbs. The switch controls the ground side of the circuit. There should be 12 volts on the blue w/white wire at the switch. The switch will ground that wire and complete the circuit and the cargo lights will turn on.

to check the switch you would unplug it and check for continuity between the pins that the blue w/wire wire and black wire go to.

Cargo brake light works but my rear brake lights dont. reverse and turn signals work fine. 04 silverado

check wiring harness behind light assembly for a loose or broken ground wire. this would not affect the third or "cargo" brake light

01 chevy silverado tail lights problems

I had the same problem. I swapped two of the same relays for the stop lamps under the hood in the fuse box panel. The problem went away. Apparently the relays stick some time.
