How do i get the speedometer gear out of the trannsmission?

see if you can rock the tranmission back and forth pulling on cable what happens is they get a bur on the gear that wont let itout

Hey Todd I have a 2005 5.7 dodge magnum and it won't change gears as i speed up while driving also speedometer stopped working

EASY ONE.... Your VSS (Vehicle SPEED SENSOR) stopped working and it is this Sensor that gives the PCM/ECM the information to change gears. Once you change your VSS, and get it working, the Transmission will start working again...

I am Assuming that the Transmission stopped working at the same time the Speedometer did? Is that right?

If it is, then this is a easy fix. 1 bolt and one Wire Connector and DONE....

these vehicles have alot of problems with the tcm( tranmission control module) internal failures of trans speed sensors. your car is currently in "limp in mode" to protect your trasmission!!!

The ABS is your brake system and that is probably why it wound shift into gear, because your brakes don't work

check speedo meter sender . on gear box exactly on difren. between two drive shaft some coming mechanical ( small gear plastic ) remove cable and rotat littil colck and unti look to gage if moving the problem gear .if not the cable speedometer , some time when you remove it will come out tha means cable need replace . if electric replace speed sender same place .

My 1995 Honda Civic ESI (Manual Transmission) speedometer doesn't work. I replaced the sensor unit to no avail. I checked all fuses and they are all okay. I also checked the voltages on the speedometer...

i see two possibilities. well the first one, when you changed the speedometer, did you just change a small part, or was a large part with a gear at the bottom. if you only changed a smal part, and not the gear under neath it, then it is a possibility that the gear that turns the speedometer is worn. the other possibility is the speedometer head which is located on the instrument cluster, but changing this does take several hours and theres no actual way of testing it without taking it out. if you know how to change the vss(the part that goes on top) then look for maybe one or two more bolts, remove, and try to wiggle the gear out. im sorry, its not the best description, but i am trying my best. if the gear is pointy on all of the ends, then it is good, and you will have to look into the speedometer head. if the ends are flat, replace that, and problem should be solved. hope this helps, goodluck.

Vehicle speed sensor on the transmission, it fails and the speedometer will not work, it could affect shifting because the computer does not know the speed you are traveling
